Why is there a wii console on the first two pages of that document?

Come to think of it...is that document really about the wiiU? I haven't read the whole technical text, but if "wiiU" is never even mentioned, I'd rather think this is more likely a draft for a patent for the uDraw than about the wiiu controller.
Nintendo doesn't have a patent on the U-Draw, though... not to mention the tablet looks almost exactly like the E3 concept for the Wii-U tablet, with some tweaks.

It probably a placeholder since the final console could look different and I didn't think anything in patent says what exactly what it is, like the console name since it is subject to change as well.

It isn't nor does it look like uDraw period.smh

It looks a lot better than it did before, although I disagree with using SNES button layout instead of GC.

And I hope the clickable sticks don't interfere with the analog movement.

I prefer the GCN button layout myself, but since the Wii, Nintendo has put a lot of emphasis on "retro" styled games (New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Return to Dreamland), which work a bit better with the NES (wiimote) and SNES (classic controller) layout, IMO. I don't know if you've ever tried playing a SNES emulator using the GCN controller, but it feels awkward beyond belief.

As for the clickable sticks, I personally never had such a problem on the XBox, so hopefully it won't be a problem here either.

People, hello? This is just a patent sketch - it's not an accurate representation of the end product, it's just an aproximation. Look at the WiiMote's and PSMove's patent pictures:

This isn't the only proof. An insider (he's trustworthy) here has confirmed that the tablet has clicky sticks. And in the patent they specifically mention 'analog sticks' versus analog nubs like with the 3DS.

And your patents are of prototypes that were made prior to the final design. This is a recent patent.

I have always thought this thing will do poorly. Every item ever purchased, solves a problem, and it is unclear what problem this one solves. You shouldn't have to read through reams of ad to figure out how much it improves upon past game models, you have 15 seconds or less sales time with the general public. If it sells at all, it will do so very slowly,,,,, I doubt they're doomed but this one I expect a loss from. Best of Luck Nintendo. you are gonna' need it this time.
.....you make me laugh......

I think in the end the Umote will end up slightly bigger then the DSI-XL, if not at launch than a revision later. I can't see people too happy hold a giant controller all day.

Only slightly bigger then the Dsi XL? Sorry, but that just not going to happen.

The gamecube made portable about roughly the same size as the wii u controller which was bought for $750.

I didn't think the umote size would be a problem if the weight is even distribute out (which it most likely is since it a official product), you wouldn't be carrying it outside the house much if at all,and the people on e3 and ces floor seem fine with it.

Oh and that people carry similar shape items (tablets) all day without a problem.

I really didn't believe the controller would be that hard to handle (when it is finished :P).

Not seeing them mentioned, but I rushed through it too.

I try to find in the patent where it's mentioned that they are click-able.
In section [0171] it says only that the sticks [53] are sending directions and amount of slide, and other buttons [54A to L] the state of pressed or not.
If there were buttons bellow the stick, they would be marked as 54M and 54N on the fig.

I agree, it may not be the final product, but if it was one of the known feature they would have put it here, no? it's only from two days ago, unless they decided to add click-able button yesterday, it should be mentioned.
I've read it a little fast, so I may missed it. It's specified in another section number?

Edit:
The current design is not very easy to handle.
The two parts on the back seems rigid [59A B] (not to be confused with the triggers 54), so you can't place it horizontally, unless there's another part near the bottom-back, or that 59 is retractable.
