Oh! How about a multiplayer like in NSMBwii? You could link up a max of 4 systems and play through the game with friends just like in NSMBwii. But make yoshi a player (wouldn't it be fun to drop our friends down a pit for that blue shell in Mario kart 7:)) and add wario and waluigi. Also, maybe have it be Wart AND Bowser teamed up, bringing back old foes such as shy guy, birdo, phantoms, those weird bird things with gonzo masks, with the Bowser kids and bowser junior. Now that would be a lengthy but oh so epic game.

I want to see levels that are actually HARD, and you know. Require SKILL, while still being FUN. It seems those things get overshadowed too much in gaming lately.

Super Mario 3D Land lol.
Strong in concept, but lacking in challenge due to nintendos sudden urge to make the game "beatable by beginners." in my book, first 3 or 4 levels should be beginner, then force beginners to step up their game. People who don't want to step up from beginner should not expect to beat video games. Period.

Actually, 3D land without a doubt was just a placeholder, a game fresh out of the sandbox put out there just to boost sales. I still want a got damn sequel.

Yeah. But PLEASE Nintendo! Make it more challenging! And maybe from more of a 3rd person perspective on some of the levels.

...They are all from 3rd person...

Indeed! What do you mean "from more of a 3rd person"? There isn't a single Mario game out there (to my knowledge) that isn't completely 3rd person.

Some of SM3DL had a top down perspective and I didn't really like it... And sometimes the levels (idk if it was my camera or what) appeared to be in a 3rd person- top down hybrid. It didn't appeal to me.

Ah. Well, that's still completely third person, by definition. As long as you can see the character, and aren't seeing through their eyes (id est, 1st person shooters), it's considered third person.

But I know what you mean. You want the camera to be at closer, more 3D-looking angles, not just static top-down and stuff. And I agree with you.

Yeah. More like LoZ OoT or SMG or SM64.

Honestly, I think the main problem is that they need more camera controls. Super Mario 3D land got so frustrated sometimes cuz you couldn't see more than a tiny bit in front of you, and the weird "swiveling" left/right perspective buttons didn't help... they should add full-on camera controls for the touchscreen and D-Pad, like Super Mario 64's C-buttons. Then there'll be no problem, and anyone can play in any perspective they choose.

Yeah. No more having to play through to get to the level that's got the top down camera like LoZ. :)

Plus, since the D-pads basically become the c-buttons cuz the circle pad replaced it, it works perfectly. Also I think the touch screen needs to be put to more use than a constant "item card." maybe a map or more camera controls or control options...?

If we're going to be granted use of many, many items, both retro and new, I expect a little extra effort in order to keep using them. Maybe it should take a little bit of patience or cautiousness in order to hold on to that reserve power-up. Or be a little less forgiving with the lives system, or more stingy, which means I don't want to see the infinite life koopa shell trick make a comeback. Please, get rid of it. I don't give a single fuck how nostalgic it is supposed to be to the original Mario games, that's why we call it New Super Mario Bros.. Something that game-breaking should not be in a game that is already beginner friendly. I personally would like bragging rights for beating a game that's naturally difficult.

I love you, Nintendo, but try to force your players to gain some skill before treating them to the rest of the game.

Oh yeah, I forgot one more thing this game needs...

NO.

RUN.

BUTTON.

Seriously, we have a pressure-sensitive analog pad, now... there's no reason we should have to constantly hold down a button while playing the game, just to go at a decent speed. I legit can't think of more than maybe one time I let go of the run button the entire game.

Oh, and as a reward for beating the game, they should unlock an insane hard mode, that's the exact same, except for every level you only have 10 seconds, and have to collect clocks, like some of the levels in the special worlds in SM3DL. THOSE were so awesome!

I view Super mario World the way most people view Super Mario Bros. 3... idk, I guess it's partially cuz Super Mario World was the first Mario I played after the original Super Mario Bros. on the NES (my NES and SNES were hand-me-downs, so I only had the games he gave me, which didn't include SMB2 or SMB3, which I ended up playing later on Super Mario All Stars), and I just loved how there was SO FREAKING MUCH you could do. Definitely the most extensive of the 2D Marios, IMO.

Yea. I doubt we'll see a 2D game as extensive as Super Mario World again, the creator of the game even says he felt it was unfinished! I would personally be happy with a remake of the game with up to date graphics (hey, I'd be happy with remakes of a LOT of games with up to date graphics!), perhaps he could even 'finish it off' at the same time.

The cape was cool. Much better than the stupid tail

(ducks)

I'm totally hyped for this game now, though. I just replayed Sonic Generations and remembered how awesome 2D looks in 3D! I then replayed some of NSMB DS, and am imagining how sweet those graphics would look if the background was was in the distance... is it August yet...??!

You know what I REALLY want. A 2D mode with Sprites as dynamic as the 3D models. I hate 2.5D to be honest, its a purely graphical change and it pisses me off since Nintendo says they dont focus on graphics. Like, I hated how Mario looked in NSMB, after I got into the hacking scene I looked all over the net for some kind of mod that would make him a sprite. In Smash Bros its alright since the characters are highly detailed and very fast. But IMO 2D platformers should be 2D platformers. Not some 2.5D crap.

I don't mind 2.5D, but at the same time, it's nice now and then. I would love a sprite-based Mario to see a sort of eShop release, though. Maybe Nintendo could de a series of "sequels" to their classics (SMW, SMB3) that are essentially the same with graphics and game mechanics, but with SLIGHT updates to the powerups and mechanics and such. It would be almost like DLC for NES and SNES games. lol

Want to see - the key and keyhole, multiple exits, challenging and longer levels, more secret levels, more powerups.

Don't want to see - Super Mushroom - it's a lazy powerup, Ba Ba music Absolutely NO GYROSCOPIC MOTION gimmicks!!

What do you mean with Ba Ba music?

I thought gyro was okay in OoT.

In OoT it was okay, but Nintendo has the stupid idea to inovate always where it doesn't need, just read this comment:

Whats wrong with Gyro? And how the hell is it a gimmick.

Played NSMB Wii? Shaking Wiimote to lift items - Why??? Why not use the old school 'hold down button and walk to item' to lift up items
Played DKCR? Shaking Wiimote + Dpad direction to blow (most stupid move ever), roll, pound.
Why not simply Double tap down to pound - Double tap left/right to roll - Double tap up to blow (still is the most stupid move ever).
Was unnecessary to use motion controls in both games.

And I don't want to shake my 3DS and break the hinges or control Mario by twisting the 3DS in all sorts of directions

(just because it's there doesn't mean it has to be used).

Most Nintendo games doesn't need to use touch screen on DS/3DS, but they always use in a stupid way.
Why do not use select for power ups you stored on NSMB or SM3L.
