I've seen it before and my response even back then was simply "Meh, it's no Smash Bros or Jump Ultimate Stars".

I totally want to see a Sony vs Nintendo game, just so I can see Kratos and Pit and their worlds fight it out.

I just don't see the draw for these kind of games. They're not proper fighting games and have all the depth of a puddle yet people rave about them. They're almost as bad as the Tekken and Soul Calibur series: spend 2 years ''mastering'' the controls and moves only for a complete novice to twat the living snot out of you just by mashing random buttons. No skill, no satisfaction, no point in playing.

Still, some sucker will buy it. I dread to think how much DLC they've got planned for the fucker.

Even though a game should be viewed as just a game, this picture just does it it. Good for Sony for making what might becaome a decent game with a certain type of gameplay, but for unmistakably copying an already made game, that's just so fucking embarassing.

Looks like the best fighter for the PS3, still prefer brawl though.

I forgot about Tekken 6, SSFIV, UMvC3, whatever the latest BlazBlue is, and SFxT.

Also, implying this is a fighting game and not a brawler.

And let it be noted that, again, you can ONLY kill other players with the Level 3 AP Attack. No other time in the match can you kill opponents, only when you use your Level 3 meter attack.

From what I read you can kill a character with any level AP attack, it's just that the higher levels equate to higher damage or a larger AoE.

EDIT: After seeing the video this is obvious when you see PaRappa hit Fat Princess and Kratos when doing his skateboard attack and Sweet Tooth with his missile attack.

Also, am I the only one noticing combos or at least chain attacks?

They invented the casual 4 player party fighting genre.... which honestly any game that comes remotely near the genre is called a rip-off now. Don't really see why we don't call out more ripoffs such as futuristic space fps, or jumping platforms sidescroller ripoffs. Honestly though, most of these games that look like smash bros tend to suck badly or just be overshadowed by Smash, titles such as digimon rumble arena 1 and 2 or tmnt smash up they just don't have that stuff that makes you want to keep playing it over again and I just don't see how this is going to be different, that K.O. mechanic sounds more derpier than randomly tripping on smbb >.>
Read their article and stuff, so its going to be more balanced and have a "robust" online, I get the online but they are going for a competitive play on something that looks so casual.... Just as bad as smash bros players who think the game is meant for tournament play. At least it will show how online should have been done for brawl.

It's not. It's a multiplayer brawler.

There's no combos, horrible balance, and absolutely no mechanics that make it a fighting game outside of attacks. That's not to say the games aren't fun, I do like all of them (well the original SSB is shit nowadays, it hasn't aged well at all), but to say they're competitive fighters on the same level of Street Fighter, Tekken, etc? Absolutely not.

It is a fighting game, it is not a tournament or professional fighting game, its Casual. Just like how mario kart is a casual racing but when poeple play forza motorsport its worth playing competitively.

Why can't this be praised because it's on the PS3, has so many characters from VERY popular franchises, and did I mention its on the PS3 and has online? If people liked Jump! because it was on a system that didn't have a proper SSB, why are people bashing this for the same exact reason?

Well, I don't know about that. Jump had the whole Koma unlock/build system and customization going for it, it was one of the main gameplay mechanics that made it a unique fighter. People had many ways to customize each fighter to their liking with extra special abilities. That alone sets it apart from Smash, I think.

Sony Smash Bros most likely has a bunch more surprises in store but, damn, what a terrible debut.

Well the controls don't seem identical. You have three dedicated attack buttons (where as SSB has only two) and the placement is different (jump in SSB was for the upper two X/Y buttons while here it appears to be mapped to X if I read the article right).

Otherwise, it's good to see a Nintendo fan here who isn't acting retarded here.
