You're assuming again that by not denying, then it's true, which it isn't. They neither confirmed nor denied the power of the Wii U to any comparable device out right now. They simply said they aren't focusing on tech more than gameplay. If you really want to assume what they said, then why not assume that their not focusing on tech is simply saying they aren't using the best available as of this moment? That can be implied as well.
And to go off your "break" analogy, a break is a short rest period. That would imply that at some point in the future from the start of the break, they'd come back once again. You should have said that they were retiring form the technology race, but too late. You should have made your assumption as such.

i dun geddit. what part of their statement isn't clear? they worded it exactly how they intended to; to get the loyal fans to think along the lines of what you're thinking, but for everyone else to have it clear as day that their next gen system isn't going to be very powerful. otherwise, they would have said "no, it is going to be more powerful than current hd consoles." don't you think? no offense, but i think your fanboy loyalty is getting the best of you here, especially when they made it so clear that the "rumors" were true. why wouldn't they deny them if they were false?

I kinda find it funny that people expect the analysts' results to be accurate all the time. The thing that made me wonder here is that they give reasons to why they think the WiiU could possibly be a bad deal for Nintendo. It's not like they're saying it's 100% certain. Basically anything can happen in between now and the time the release is finally made. For example if the factory making the WiiU screens just happened to blow up or that the PS3 would all malfunction for reason X. You can never be certain, but these people are trying to estimate probabilities. Like it or not, some people compare many results like this instead of just one when actually buying stocks compared to raging on the internet about the topic. Honestly how many of us have Nintendo stock?

Also however you want to not compare Apple and Nintendo, Apple still has made a ton lot more money with their products in the same domains (gaming is part of the Apple market too, like it or not). It's actually amazing that Apple can sell an iPad for kids (parents paying) just for gaming.

regardless, there's no question that it will follow the pattern their previous consoles have been in that they're all a generation behind in terms of power.
DS, wii, 3DS, were all about a generation behind. the wii-u is just destined to follow the same fate.
either way, like i already said; i don't agree with the analyst in that the wii-u will fail.
nintendo is aimed primarily at children. children don't care about hardware specs. they care about mario and gimmicks. it's destined to sell well. it's fucking nintendo.

The 3DS isn't a generation behind, sure, the graphis are inferior to Vita's, but they're supperior to PS2 graphs and somewhat comparable to the Wii graphs at times, plus, it has glasses free 3D, which I enjoy myself.
I'm not a fanboy myself, hell, I only buy the systems that have or will have RPG's that I like, while the Wii U will most likely have lower graphics compared to the next xbox and playstation, it will most definetly be more powerful than the previous generation, several devs have said so before... Regarding the aimed primarly at children, that's debatable.. There's several series of games that Nintendo consoles get that definetly aren't for all ages, all plaftorms have childish games, dif is that Nintendo states themselves as Family Fun.

i think everyone else already proved earlier that better specs will mean more 3rd party support which means better games so when the new ps and xbox comes out i'm sure the wiiu will be ditched by those 3rd parties in favor of something better.
