The PSP Go possesses a few features that none of the other models have (including bluetooth and instant save). I was curious about whether the Vita has these features. Also concerning the bluetooth feature, I'm mainly interested in it for the dual shock 3 connection. Does connecting the dual shock 3 to the PSP Go significantly lower the battery life. And does anyone know of quality stands available to prop the Go up. Thanks.

The Vita has bluetooth and whats instant save? I don't think it has it but most games have an auto save feature or sleep so I don't be so worried. I don't think connecting it would lower the battery life and I don't get what you mean by prop the Go up but if you mean CFW and homebrew then there is that.

Instant save is being able to save any game at any time. when i first found out about it I instantly thought this should be a standard feature for all consoles and handhelds from now on (especially handhelds because of the convenience factor). As for the stand I mean something to prop the Go up while on a desk.

Ah okay and as far as I know there isn't a stand for the Go or the PSP for that matter but I didn't really bother to research into this much and the instant save is normally covered with the ingame function of auto save and no the Vita doesn't have it.

The Go's "Pause" (saves state in game and exits to XMB, can be resumed later) feature is the "instant save" you refer to, correct? Its legit use is analogous to exiting to the LiveArea on the Vita without exiting the game, however I'm not sure if you can start another game on the Vita like you can do with the Go if you paused your game. However, being hacked, the Go has an additional feature in which you can prevent your hibernation date from being deleted when you resume game, effectively acting as a save state you can use over and over again in case of failure within the game.

Bluetooth should decrease battery life, much like if you use WiFi all the time.

Ah the Vita definitely doesn't have that feature and bluetooth like all wireless software I assume it eats at the battery life more than if it was turned off.

Yeah not sure about instant save, but you can slide the screen back down and the PSP Go will go to sleep.

Anyway I haven't played around with the Dual Shock on it too much, but whenever I do I have it in the dock so it is charging anyway. If you do get one I'd suggest trying to find the dock too, it can be annoying to find cheap outside of a second hand bundle sometimes but it's worth it

Is the installed PSP Go firmware at 6.60 or less? Also once the Go is soft modded is it just a matter of checking some sort of box to activate the feature of not having the hibernated data become deleted when loaded. Also I read that this hibernated data isn't deleted when the Go is turned off. Is this correct?

5.70 at manufacture. Obviously if it's second hand or shop opened it'll probably be higher.
Hibernation/Pause Game Data can be preserved via an option in the recovery menu.

I loved the Pause Game feature, another neat way to get back into CFW.

Pause Game feature is not the same as auto save in some games.

Edit: Oh and the official cradle will act as a stand.

This is going mental....

Instant Save implies instant saving. Therefore a savestate like feature such as the Pause/Resume game feature of the PSP Go is probably a good approximate.

AUTO Save implies that the game saves the players progress at key checkpoint. That's a game imposed feature and has no relation to the Go's hibernation function.

There is a save state feature available for other PSP's aside from the Go but i wouldn't recommend it.

There isn't an instant save feature in the Vita anyway.

you can thank this guy for that
the instant save is normally covered with the ingame function of auto save and no the Vita doesn't have it.
Blame him for saying that an auto save isn't the same as an instant save but most games use it as a replacement? lol such is a prower response.

Can the dock charge a dual shock 3 controller as well? I don't have a PS3, so the controller couldn't be charged via that method. Also how exactly does the bluetooth feature work on the Go. Do I need to connect the dual shock 3 adapter to the PSP via the cable (sorry if thats a stupid question, I just have no experience with bluetooth technology).

To pair the controller you will need to use either your PS3 or a Windows (XP or higher) computer. You plug both the controller and PSP into your PS3/computer to do the pairing. Also, the dock will not charge the controller. In fact, in order to both charge your PSP and hook it up to the TV you will need a 1000/2000/3000 PSP charger as the dock only has one "Go port".

I've tried the dualshock connection feature. Pretty cool. You don't even need a PS3. There's a pc program (unoffical of course) that can act like the PS3 :) (You only need that to pair the controller to it.)

Reason for getting a PSPgo over other other PSP.
  • I find the screen much brighter and looks cleaner and crisper than other models. it is a lot easier to see in well lit areas.
  • It is a nice size for the pokcet and I find it more comfortable now I am used to it. It took a while to get used to it.
  • Internal storage so you don't need to carry UMDs around
  • Takes M2 cards which are a little cheaper and seem to have less isues with comatibles than pro duo cards.

Reason for getting a PSPgo over a Vita.
  • It is a lot, lot cheaper (£50 new)
  • It is hackable for homebrew and Um... backups, ok I know.
  • Perfect GBA, PSX and a lot of other emulation.

Whats the name of the program? And will this program allow for charging of the dualshock 3 via a PC.

Isn't noise another factor in the Go's favor (since the UMD drive is rather loud)? I'm surprised though that the Go's battery life isn't significantly improved without the need of a UMD drive.
