Gaming A Internet Radio App for 3DS?

Why? The 3DS is a portable handheld. It doesn't have internet access everywhere, so what's the point of giving it internet radio if you're usually within range of any other device that can? Be it a PC or some sort of media player.

The PSP has Internet Radio and it doesn't have internet access everywhere. So why should the 3DS be an exception?

The PSP was marketed as more of a mass media player than the 3DS is.


EDIT: While the 3DS has NINTENDO SOUND YEAH or Netflix, it wasn't meant to be a media player.

What's to great about internet radio anyway? Just download the songs, you got a MP3 built right in. How bout an iTouch?

This is not how you discover new music or expand your horizons. Internet radio is fantastic, can't tell you how many great songs and artists I've found because of it, my musical taste would be so much more limited if I only listened to mp3s that I owned.

Well I cant lie, Ive used pandora for that same reason but I did that from my iTouch or PC. Why does he need it on a 3DS is what im asking.

I guess my response to that would then be, why does the 3DS then have Netflix? It doesn't have to, but it does, and its pretty freaking great that it does. Obviously the 3DS doesn't need Pandora, but why not? I mean it would obviously be a smart move and increase business even more for Pandora. It can't be used everywhere obviously because the 3DS doesn't have 3G or 4G, but heck if you're frequently in areas with wifi (which I am, at work included where I can listen to whatever I like) then such an app would be great for you, just as Netflix is.

Yes, of course friends help one find new music, but come on, there have been plenty of times in life where I find new music before any of my friends do. You know the song We Are Young by Fun thats suddenly everywhere? I knew about that song on the day it was released way back in September. (However, I knew about fun not from internet radio, but because I was a fan of The Format years before, but the point still stands, internet radio can help you find new music before your friends do, or perhaps if any of your friends even will. there is no limit to how many great songs I would love to hear, so I really do embrace and support internet radio).

Anyway, I think its a great idea. No reason it can't be done, and no one would force you to get it, so if it weren't for you, simply don't download the app.

Anyway, I think its a great idea. No reason it can't be done, and no one would force you to get it, so if it weren't for you, simply don't download the app.

Also, how do any of you know that the internet radio companies want their product on the 3DS? I hear it's quite expensive to develop for the 3DS and if I remember right most internet radio stations are powered by ads. How do you expect them to pay for the licensing fees unless they charge the users for the app? I don't think would want to pay for a free service they can get on any other platform. Certainly sounds dumb to me.

True, but people like my cousins would have games above T restricted on the eShop, but aren't allowed to listen to explicit lyrics, so by your logic, every time that they want to buy a game they have to go to their dad and ask him to unrestrict it, go to the eShop, buy the game, and give it back to him to restrict it. That would be a very tedious process and not a good move on Ninty's part.

I'm sorry, but thats ridiculous, if its so tedious that its a bad idea for Nintendo to have parental controls, then why even have them? Your logic isn't sound enough to discredit the possibility of adding Pandora to the eShop. Its not like iPhones or PCs or Macs restrict foul language content. And even if it were as big a deal as you're making it out to be, then the creators of the Pandora eShop app could create a parental control within their app. But really I doubt it would be an issue, if a kid wants to hear a song with bad language, he's going to find a way one way or another. And, I would argue, that a kid that shouldn't be hearing bad language, shouldn't be buying games on his eshop in general, but the parent should be instead.

Thats fine man, there are plenty of eshop games and apps that I don't find value in, but can see how someone else would find value in them. I would absolutely find value in Pandora on my 3DS (My 3DS has become my primary mp3 player at work, so for it to have pandora/internet radio would be a fantastic addition for myself).

Wow thats ignorant as hell. If you think only the good songs are appearing out in the mainstream, and nothing thats not out there isn't good, then I feel sorry for your music taste. I hope you're not one of those top 40 fools. Here, I'll do you a favor and show you a couple of brilliant songs that there is no way that you have heard out and about.





Seriously listen to them. If you want more amazing songs that you'll likely only find through internet radio stations, ask me for more, or better yet, create a pandora station, its free.

But beyond amazing songs that never break into the mainstream. internet radio also helps you find amazing songs that do get huge and played all over the radio, but often you'll hear them looooooong before they're actually everywhere. That Gotye song thats everywhere right now, I was rocking out to that a year ago. This isn't about being "hipster" or anything like that, its about the ecstasy of music. If a song that is in the mainstream and its awesome and you listen to it for the rest of your life, isn't it all the greater when you are enjoying that song as early as you possibly can? Maybe you don't feel this way, but this is absolutely my point of view.
