I was thinking of submitting my case idea to a company like Nyko, I am not looking to make any sort of money. I just want a good case for the 3DS and I think it's doable.

My ideal case for the Nintendo 3DS would include the following.

1) Back up battery to double battery life of the 3DS system.
2) Extra Circle Pad attachment.
3) LCD Screen - This could display one of the following (Date, Time, Calculator, Notes, Battery Level, Wifi Strength).
4) Extra Speakers.

Now for the top portion of the case that attaches to the upper portion of the 3DS. I would extend it so that it would close along where that extra Circle Pad lines up to the side of the A B X Y buttons. Also instead of leaving the space above the spare Circle Pad blank (I imagine there would be quite a bit of space) I say fit in a small LCD or Digital Screen that could display what I've written in Number 3, I'd also have an option to switch that LCD or Digital Screen on or off so that if some don't like it they can disable it.

For legal reasons they couldn't even consider your suggestions.

Honestly, with all that stuff attached the system would be absolutely enormous. I would want something that would lightly cover the outside from scratches and provide some inner bumpers to keep the screen from scratching itself. All this while being as inconspicuous as possible -- that would be a smart design. :)

#1 I would never want a "case" other than my pocket...

#2 Circle pad pro? Speakers? Do you like making the 3DS the least portable handheld since the 1st Gameboy? Oh wait, Gameboy came in a single piece. Edit: Do you like making your 3DS the least portable handheld ever?

A case that could make my 3DS:

1) Fly
2) It MUST have a time machine, it HAS to have one
3) A stand as large as a military-grade submarine
4) A port to connect the 3DS to any machine magically and extract any files from the machine it connects to, including from the nand...

I'm sorry, you made this too easy.

But in all seriousness what you are describing is (similar to) this:

Honestly though with everything you described, if nYko actually did it all, I'd be like "piss off nYko" because that would be one hell of a massive tub.

You mean they couldn't add a CPP legally? I'd buy the Nyko Shock n Rock 3DS, but I think they cancelled it. Even if it made it big, I'd love even LOUDER speakers in addition to the 2x battery life. The LCD I could do without.

It was meant to be an allusion to the flux capacitor...

It all seriousness, a case should allow the 3DS to fit in it, and have an overlay around the buttons, so you can still play it, INSIDE the case. Also, it should have a little compartment for holding your games, and a pouch to carry the charger or something. That's all it should really be.

It's been done by a boss hardware-modder.

I bought a silicone case off of ebay for my 3DS. It's just for preventing scratches - as my 3DS rides around in my purse all day.

My Dream Case?
- a lined pocket for games/stylii
- a slim backup battery (probably doable - but they'd need to use a lithium-ion one) that charges while I charge my 3DS
- switchable lenses for the 2 outer cameras

That's gotta be the worst case ever.
I mean, a case that hurts the system?
*Shrug* my pocket's all I've been using, and no problems so far. I keep the executive pouch in my backpack in the rare chance that I need to keep it out of my pocket (id est, heavy rain or snow, considering the college I go to), but that's it.
