Hacking A little help PLEASE!

Hello GBAtemp.net. I would like to ask a small favor. My cousin crashed my computer and lost AAAALLLLL my files!!!! And as of now my laptop can only do mudain task like transfer data and maybe Open Office. Before the crash I was working on two models to replace in-game.
1. An Otter Link and Zelda to replace for Wind Waker.
2. An Unique Costume for Twilight Princess Link.
And I also had a costume planned for Skyward Sword Link but now it's all dead! I still have the blue-prints and finished art for the models drawn out though! So I wonder if I were to scan them would someone make them for me or point me to someone who will. I'm a big Zelda fan, But THE TUNIC IS GETTING LAME!!! Please Help!

P.S. Do LOZ:Wind Waker and Twilight Princess texture hacking works like that or like SSBB and I've been wasting my time?

The making of a texture once you have the layout completed is a 10min job, for games so low-res as GC/Wii games.

I would like more info on this boot CD. As well as ur com. I would love to start over if I can. The designs matched each game flawlessly and nothing is more satisfying than your own work vita'd by your hands. If I can get this paperweight laptop working I'll rock this my danm SELF! Just wondering if my gear does craps out completely can someone help. My next message might come from the library

On a another note is their a way to add custom things like movements & animations to Wii/GC games other than SSB I've googled and have'nt seen it done. Anyone?

Here's a link to one: Ultimate boot CD for Windows. Check it out thoroughly and create a bootable CD...or even USB stick.

"ur com" is just very abbreviated for "your computer". Luigi's just saying not to let people on your laptop that crash things.


btw...does your cousin know you're blaming them for not knowing how to make models in a 3D program?

Hmm, something like http://tokiwa.qee.jp/EN/dr.html or http://ubuntu-rescue-remix.org/ would be handy. I usually keep this sort of stuff taped inside my tower's case. Having it ahead of time saves you a lot of hastles!

Get Trinity Rescue Kit while you're at it since they're all free! Well, except pennies for the CD-R's. TRK is text-based so if you prefer text instead of graphics, it's an alternative to the first one. It's mainly for removing malware that is a royal PITA when in Windows (stuff that keeps undeleting itself).

You can use SystemRescueCd to backup data from an unbootable Windows computer, if you want to backup the data stored on a Windows computer that cannot boot any more.

http://www.ntfs.com/boot-disk.htm is not free but it runs in it's own copy of Windows. http://www.ubcd4win.com/ is free and also runs it's own copy of Windows. These are for people that prefer using Windows to get to their data but can't get their hard drive to boot to Windows. Like say, when you get "blue screen of death" over and over and... If you hate learning a new OS, get someone to help you make a UBCD4Win disc.

If you have trouble getting this stuff working, just get a technical friend to do it or show you how. Trying to explain over the phone or something is like that person says, very painful for both people. Also, never write to the drive that has the errors! It's best to have the recovery program you use save the recovered files to a different hard drive. Sadly, this might not be an option for some people. ;( An external hard drive adapter or 2 is a wise investment for anyone having to fix a lot of PCs.

Personally, I like to use programs like Get Data Back and one of those adapters I mentioned but that's only useful if you have 2+ PCs, which you seem to only have 1 of. You can still use the adapter so that you can copy data off the drive inside the laptop to an external drive.

For data recovery I prefer to use my brain and do stupid things that might compromise my data, and take extra backups of things I really cant afford to lose should an HDD fail or similar.

Well, duh! There's no need to do much recovery if you run an automatic backup system that syncs your revisions to a 2TB NAS. If you are worrying about the Katrina/9-11 effect, then have an encrypted copy sent to the cloud. Just don't use Megaupload! If you have that type of software in place, it's as simple as reinstalling the entire OS, running the backup program's setup, and entering the username and password for your NAS. None of this "copy disk to image file, mount image as drive letter, run recovery tool, blahblahblah tedious boring stuff blahblahblah" nonsense!
