Too many games? Need better organization?

Nice. Atm I'm satisfied with that "TrueHD Surround" crap my TV pulls off. And with games like Skyrim, I tend to connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI. I like keeping my old systems setup mainly as a way to experience nostalgia if I don't feel like emulating, and to show off.

My justification for the emulation and packing away the old systems is that for almost every system I am emulating, with the exception of handhelds and the Genesis right now (working on the adapter...), I have an adapter to use every controller on my computer. So I play N64 games with the real controller, etc.

The closest thing I have to that is using my PS3 controller on my PC. I should get adapters in the future...

Probably the most expensive ones you'll buy are gonna be the MayFlash N64 adapters (around $16 a piece, each has 2 ports) and Sega Genesis -> USB adapters. However, you can buy like 5 bucks of materials if you have a Parallel printer cable and make a dual serial to parallel adapter and use PPJoy as the drivers for it. I can -almost- get it to work, but it always bugs out on one of the ports, then another one. The PC has to have a legit parallel port, USB ones won't work, but PCI ones may.

your collection is fine, but i personally don't like to leave out consoles i hardly play, i keep my older consoles in storage (from dust and other nasties), i have a lot of legit games myself and it's getting so bad i can't even buy anymore games because i don't have the room anymore, i have nearly 400 ps2 games lol

also a good tip is to emulate older consoles to save space, that way you can play older games consoles on one system (without having to take them out and hook them up all the time), also i personally don't like to be tied down to the pc to play emulation, i have a xbox 1 so i can play on my tv.

Love your set up bro. I personally have been shrinking my collection over the last few years. Dam I really need to take some pics of my set up. I do most of my playing now with my son on our living room HDTV but when I really want to play something on my own I play on a Panisonic HD projector in my upstairs game room. I voted just to organize a little better.

I also have a cool collection of games but it's all via ROMs I can play them just fine (also higher games like PS2/Wii ) on my PC. It's much more impressive/expensive when you buy the actual games though

I have all those console except the PS3-fat. Dad gave me his older stuff(Sega, NES, SNES etc), but my tv-stand upstairs holds only 3 consoles... even than its a mess lol.

You got plenty of cash for games it appears and a nice set up. There's nothing wrong in that.

As Hells Malice said, life is to enjoy. If enjoyment comes from watching sports, whacking off, or playing video games, then so be it. But as long as nobody gets hurt, life is to live, have fun with it, and there are certainly worse outlets of your time than gaming.

I see nothing wrong with gaming as a way of life. Frankly, if you enjoy it, why regret it. Your life is for you to enjoy.

This is honestly something I wish more people would understand, I couldn't agree more.

I'd say that as long as you can balance it with everything else in your life, you're more than fine. There's no shame in a collection like that.

Alright, so I took the advice given and tried applying some of it to my setup. Looks somewhat better; I moved my DS/3DS and PS3 game cases elsewhere and set my extra controllers, and charging station, along the bottom shelf next to my PS1 and Dreamcast games. I was also able to scoot back the fatty Playstation and set both controllers there in front of it. I'm certain there's ways it can still be improved upon, but for now, this'll have to do, due to the space constraints in my room atm. If anyone else has any other ideas for better organization, let me know.
