Hacking Why do Flashcards effect Emulators?

I don't understand why it matters which flashcard you have lets you run an emulator better than another flashcart, shouldn't the emulator speed be based off only of the 3ds Hardware and the coding of the emulator? Please help me understand why all flashcards are not created equal.

A couple of flashcards have extra hardware inside them. For example, a flashcard like the acekard 2i is just an ordinary flashcard. But the Supercard DSTWO actually contains its own processor and memory built into the cart itself that can be used for extra juice in more advanced emulators. It has its own special emulators that will only function on the DSTWO. There's a couple of others like this, the iplayer and i believe the ismart mm. I forget if that's all of them. Most of the rest don't have that extra hardware however, so they're only able to use the specs inside the DS itself.

The DStwo (and iSmart maybe?) has a 400 Mhz CPU inside the flashcart itself to speed up emulation. The iEvolution hacks the DSi mode's extra 66Mhz for extra emulation speed. The rest of the cards on the market should be about equal with each other.

The flashcard kernel may play a role in this as well.
For example, nesDS doesn't work on the official AK kernel.
