Mario Kart question

Nope.

Mario Kart 7 is the latest installment, so that means there's 7 titles (actually 9) and they are

Super Mario Kart - SNES
Mario Kart 64 - N64
Mario Kart Super Circuit - GBA
Mario Kart Double Dash - GameCube
Mario Kart DS - DS
Mario Kart Wii - Wii
Mario Kart 7 - 3DS

But, there are two arcade games in Japan (and other places around the world) of Mario Kart GP (Grand Prix).

Two buttons is enough. You could have braking on the down button on the D-pad, items on the up, A for acceleration and B for drifting. And I don't think the Gameboy could handle drifting anyway.

I think the main reason they didn't make a Mario Kart game for the GB is that racing games on the GB looked like this:

Yeah, that was mentioned above. I wonder how good those arcade version are.

Well that's strange. It's like the people working on the series were handheld-prejudiced until the GBA era.

That, or the GBC couldn't really handle something like Mario Kart. Even on the SNES, it was a bit of a powerhouse with everything going on on screen.

I could see it working if they removed the ability to brake.

Ya, remove an important function in a kart racing game.
