If you're going to steal, steal from the best. JXD has just released its S7100, a fairly conspicuous 7-inch Android-powered gaming tablet marketed towards playing old-school arcade games. The device features a D-pad, face buttons, an 800 x 480 capacitive touchsceen, ARM Cortex A9 CPU, Mali 400 GPU, 512MB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 0.3 megapixel front camera, 2.0 megapixel rear camera and HDMI-out. A video trailer shows the unit playing a variety of touchscreen games and classic ROMs including Metal Slug, Mario Kart 64, Angry Birds, Plants Vs. Zombies and Fruit Ninja HD. Not to be undone, the device also features the actual PlayStation button icons on its own buttons (sound familiar?), while the marketing website for the device sports icons from Apple, Google, Microsoft and others. If you're thus far undeterred, there's a must-watch promotional vid hosted just after the break -- nothing justifies a $140 price tag like Bieber, right?

EDIT: Replaced the vid with Bieber with a "not as shit but still some may want to mute" Bon Jovi song.

$140? There must be something wrong with it...aside from the ghosting.

I would buy the thing, only to see how hard you could push it's emulation limits. Plus, tablets with buttons on what is basically an open-end operating system? Call me a sucker for tech savvy, but this thing has my attention. That price tag ain't too shabby either, but like everyone already said, it's probably about as good as it's price tag, which isn't a very good sign.

I have a Cortex A8 tablet from Deal Extreme and I love the little thing. The only thing I cant find are proper Genesis and GBA emulators for it. PS1, N64, NES and SNES works great and I can even get NDS to run (albeit it's an early version of NDS4Droid). I am having difficulty finding actual Android games for it, mostly due to the screen resolution I guess but aside from that and the crappy way they did the file structure, I'm more than pleased!

Urrr... The Sony PSP Go, Nintendo WiiU Pad and Google Android just had an illegitimate child with one of the best CPU's out there. I wonder if it's the Single-Core or Dual-Core A9 beating in there.

What is it with the "Oh nooo, Chinese Rip-Off, not worth the news 'cus it's made by the Chinese, urr!" ? Most of your electronics are made by the Chinese, even the name-brands, they go through the same development process, they just don't have a nametag that's worth 90% of the final price.

This particular one is dedicated for gaming and is worth as much attention as any other gaming device.

Also, since when did a business think 'Never Say Never' is good for marketing?

I like it. Going to look into getting one of these just for the hell of it.

In the second link posted it says it's dual core.

Well then that is quite a beast as far as hardware is concerned. Too bad that the OS will be so "stupid add-ons"-heavy that most of the resources will be drained anyways.

I'm quite amazed by the capacity to put quality hardware into cheap devices the Chinese posess. If this had "Sony Ericsson" or "HTC" or "Samsung" slapped on it, it would sell better than a cure for Death.
