I have never heard of DMS-board before, its possible its just a random board and no guarantee it will be an older model.
However, this, this or this board will work fine.

DMS = what very early Wiis came with. Predates D2A iirc

Anyway that board will only work if your current Wii is a D3-2 or earlier board. D4 boards are smaller and have a different ribbon connector. You'd have to swap the whole DVD drive (board + motor + laser) to be able to load backup DVDs.

i'm wanting to do the same as you with my red wii, but have yet to get around to it because i can't afford more toys.

modchip central says this board will work, and some people from gbatemp said it will work as well.

I wouldn't have wasted my money on the wrong size logic board

changed wii drives last night and now my red wii plays dvd-rs and dvds. for some reason wiimc reboots after loading a dvd with the forwarder but if i load a dvd through homebrew's wiimc loader wii mc runs fine and loads the dvd.

switching drives was an easy task but having to use tri and phillip almost every other screw and working with only one magnetic tip screw driver made the job over an hour to complete

i tried the new channel (boy do i hate the hbo channel) and it still has the same reboot. if i ever do watch a dvd i'll just get the dvdx thing from homebrew, hopefully that'll be the cure.

DVDX isn't available anymore. Use MPlayer CE with 202[60]v5.1 rodries mod. Unfortunately it's not a very user friendly app. Go here for the controls:
