Whenever i try to boot the R4i 3DS, it just comes up with a pixelated 'ERROR' word inside a sd card. I was playing C.O.P. the recruit and it played just fine, but i used the soft-reset feature and it came up with the 'ERROR' screen. Please help!

That's an old issue with the cart. Backup everything and format the card with Panasonic SD formatter or wait for another kernel release to "fix" the problem again.

Just for my personal knowledge which r4i Team (the web address is....) Buleste how can you be certain when you say "That's an old issue with the cart?" Unless you used private messaging with fossda, how would you even know which cart it is to say that?

I'm guessing that as www.r4i-sdhc.com have recently released a new kernel and he has just replied after nearly 2 weeks that he has an r4i-sdhc.com cart and along with the date issue r4i-sdhc.com has had problems with "savefile not founded" many times as well.

Also I've just found on this thread fossda says he has a www.r4i-sdhc.com cart.

Good deal, Buleste. I was naturally assuming that was your thinking, and I wanted to see if I was correct. Many people have raised issue with the saving system with the r4i-sdhc flash card, including a gbatemp reviewer, as I noticed you're aware. I have this flash card and I've used it, but not extensively as I have many cards and other things going on. My question Buleste, do you have one of these carts that I'm referring to? If so, have you encountered any save issues with it as well? And furthermore, what is the frequency of the save problems. I'm not trolling. I know you know your flash cards as I have read your posts, so I'm looking for an intelligent answer, you know?

I've had a r4-sdhc, a r4i-sdhc 1.4 and a r4i-sdhc 1.4.1. The R4i's I've given away to friends and my mother has the R4-SDHC.

I used to be a moderator on a ROM site that is associated with www.r4i-sdhc.com until I quit and have solved many peoples issues with these carts in the past.

As I said the Date issue is a reoccurring one due to limitations in the kernel and the issue of "save file not founded!" (the wording told me which type of cart it probably was) is an old one that is always reappearing especially with COP (if I remember rightly one of the Professor Layton games is affected by this one as well). It's not an issue that appears with every game and every save so in the old days I would always make sure I knew exactly which version of the ROM it was and test it on my carts to see if the issue happened to me. Some times it did sometimes it didn't. Personally I always recommend backup and format with Panasonic SD formatter as the first thing to do just to rule out a fragmented SDHC card but if that fails then it's email the r4i-sdhc.com team and hope they fix this particular problem in the next kernel update.
