HOUSTON - PlayStation Vita criticism is like peanut butter and GamePro’s McKinley Noble sees fit to spread it on the crustless bread that is the Internet.
Noble doesn’t waste words: he’s frustrated and believes Sony has set the Vita up for failure.
“Sony's not selling me a revolutionary portable touch-screen gaming system, they're selling me a giant headache,” he writes.
His peeves?
-- Too expensive ($299)
-- Low battery life
-- PSOne classics not available at launch
-- UMD Passport Program
-- Weak launch titles
-- No control over save game feature

1 - He's calling it too expensive, but didn't seem to even NOTICE the $250 model, he only mentions the $300 model. Even if he did notice the $250 model, the PSP and 3DS started on that price, but I never saw any Gamepro article complain about that.

2 - PSOne and UMD Passport complaints? Really? You buy a brand new system, and you think a major flaw is you can't play games on it which you can already play now in portable form (PSP)?

3 - Weak Launch titles - Uncharted, Modnation, Little Deviants, Everybody's Golf, Motorstorm, WipeOut 2048 etc. That covers pretty much every one of the best selling/best rated game types on PS3 (Little Deviants is an original IP, points for that). You're entitled to your opinion, yes, but when your opinion esentially hates all the top rated game series on PS3, that's your own problem, you shouldn't write an article essentially stating you're right and the vast majority of gamer's opinions on those game series are wrong.

4 - Low Battery Life I somewhat agree with, it's pretty low.... but exactly the same as the 3DS for gaming. I'd be curious to see what he thought of the 3DS's battery life before it launched. If he thought it was even acceptable, that would clearly show he's just a Nintendo fanboy/Sony hater.

5 - Save Game managment, I have no clue about that, cannot comment due to the fact there's nothing publically known about it.

add to that the absurd prices of the accessories. u should also include the price of a game and tax to bump the price closer to $400.

1: It's a brand new next gen handheld. Princess should get a real job or wait for the price to drop like every other gen.
2: It's low but I never use my handhelds more than 3 hours before being able to charge them. But yeah, could be longer.
3: PS1 classics...who gives a fuck. Get a PSP, they're like $10 for a 12 pack these days.
4: Oh QQ no UMD drive, deal breaker guys...deal breaker. Bahaha. Of course not every title will be supported, it'd be a waste of time. See #3.
5: Welcome to virtually every launch console in existence.
6: No idea what this one is. Can't choose save game slots? Can't delete it off memory? The fuck does he mean. I assume MediaGo will manage saves like the PSP.

-It's 249.99
-3 to 5 hours is fine, could be better though. He might as well be slamming the 3DS too by saying this
-Game Archives(PS1) will be added eventually, Nintendo has been delaying lots of shit too(E-shop, Games(Kid Icarus), November Update, likely the GBA games too)
-UMD passport program, it's dumb but better than nothing, any smart PSP owner went all digital for better battery life
-Weak launch titles? Touch My katamari, Shinobido 2, Resistance, Gravity Rush, Blazblue, UMVSC3, Wipeout, and Disgaea 3 are bad? Better than a system that only had SSF4 at launch(I own a 3DS too, I'm active in the 3DS boards check my posts)
-No control over save feature? A valid complaint for once. That does suck

$250 isn't too expensive for a Vita
If 3-5 hours isn't enough for you then buy the portable charger...
PSOne classics are nice to have, but most people will be too busy with new Vita games to care.
The Vita has one of the best launch lineups I've seen out of any system. I already have 8 games preordered and will preorder more when they become available.
IMO, maybe if he was a better writer they would pay him more so he could afford $250.

I agree with him on most points. There's still a chance I'll get one.

Those are pretty good reasons though... nothing ridiculous here. Just his opinion.
He doesn't mention the 250 dollar model, he doesn't slam the 3DS for awful battery life, this system has AMAZING launch titles, Complaining about a feature that will be added in the near future is just plain ignorance.

I bought my 3DS at launch and the only game then was SSF4

You know what I am getting for Vita launch?

-Wipeout 2048
-Touch My Katamari
-Shinobido 2
-Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3
-Army Corps of Hell
-Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend
-Gravity Rush
-Disgaea 3
-Unchated Golden Abyss

And maybe Hot Shots Golf, maybe

It still seems so much better than 3DS itself! I mean the hardware specs, the ability to have 3G, the 3rd parties, even most of them will have the possibility to test new engines without too much hassle, for some reason the ARM architecture means to tweak too much code to squeeze hardware. And, while this policy has been successful Nintendo through the years, won't be anymore because of all the trouble a developer must carry to release a game.

I get the feeling this portable will be the mainstream handheld for most next-gen developed games

Oh my God, I am so wound up. I feel the need to get others who feel this way to accuse whathisname he is ignorant and wrong. Should he refuse to apologies and refute those libelous claims, my friends and I will attack his credibility as a journalist.

Her is wrong though.

He only acknowledged the 300 model for example, he's clearly trying to get attention from acting like an idiot, it's a common tactic to get website traffic.
