I guess they could always add a weekly mission or something, like MKW? I don't remember that having missions at launch, but they added them later on.

Personaly Im buying this game because of the trailer,
even though I was gunna buy it cause a lot of my friends will
this review basicaly kicked me in the balls to buy it!

IGN has a shitty review history IMO. They give crap games great scores and great games great scores. I personally don't give a f**k about what IGN gives it, let along any other reviewer. I'm still gonna buy it and I already have it pre-ordered. I want it cuz of wifi. That was my favorite feature in MKWii. 12 player online multiplayer with a stellar voting system (although it seems bias at sometimes). I didn't really like mission mode or even battle mode in any previous mario karts so the absence of it here won't bother me. Nevertheless a 9 out of 10 is still an excellent score.

Also, please keep in mind that IGN is not one single person pooping out reviews. They have a bunch of different editors who review different games and have different tastes. Going "OMG 3DS GAME X SCORED LESS THAN XBOX 360 GAME Y" is just a stupid thing to say. Odds are the guy who reviewed 3DS Game X didn't even review Xbox 360 Game Y. Just throwing that out there since whenever a single person seems to be flabbergasted that one game on IGN scored lower than another, they seem to forget that it's usually two different people with two different opinions reviewing two different games.

Anyway I don't really care for Review scores, they are just people opinions, so I rather form my own opinions by playing/looking at the game(looking usually doesnt give much of the experience though)
I don't like the idea of scoring though, cause pretty much every big title will get atleast 7.5, and you only need to know it's a big title to know about how much it would get.

Online wasnt that great on the DS thanks to cheaters with flashcarts and snakers so to me it was something great to do when i wanted a break from simply racing. You cany deny it was fun tho, It gave the game some much needed padding and to lose that on MK7 seems a shame.
