No. Use FAT.

WBFS is pointless now.

EDIT: fat32 that is.

FAT32 is pointless. Use NTFS or EXT2/3/4.

WBFS has its upsides and downsides, I still use it.

@OT: There is no reason why this is not technologically possible, but I'm not sure if Dolphin includes this feature; I just posted to bash Kiriashi.

O RLY?

You and maybe five other people on GBATemp do. WBFS and EXT formatting have no advantages, as Wii ISO images are converted to WBFS format. That is, if you use USB Loader GX or CFG USB Loader to back up the games to an HDD. Any converted image usually doesn't exceed the FAT32 limit, but if it does exceed 4GB, it splits into two files.

You're right, there is no reason why it's not possible. But it's slowly becoming an obsolete, not to mention practically useless format for storage devices for homebrew. FAT32, heck even NTFS, have more support than WBFS would ever dream to hope for. And why on earth would you want Dolphin to support it? Is your hard drive so limited that you must store Wii games with minimal compression? Good luck
with that. Windows will not recognize any HDD that was exclusively formatted to WBFS.

FAT32>WBFS

If you want to use the drive with the wii and dolphin I suggest you use scrubbed sparse .iso files.
Since fat does not support sparse files you have to use ntfs or ext2/3/4. Choose according to your OS.
For normal homebrew add a small fat32 partition before the other one.

I know wiimm's tool can create the files but ther are probably other manager that can too.
The resulting files should be comparable to .wbfs files and thus use even less space (slightly) then on a WBFS partition.

Note that normal by copying might lose the sparse effect and return the file to their original size.
Simply let the Manager create then where you want them to avoid that.

For Wii gaming and general PC storage (except large files) FAT32 is best in terms of compability.
For Wii gaming and real PC storage (incl. big files) NTFS is best, but you cant run homebrew apps from an NTSC partition. So you need 2 partitions or a big SD card as FAT32.
For Wii Development, or anything that makes you write and delete files a lot for the Wii, WBFS is better due to fragmentation. You lose the ability to use the disc as anything but Wii storage though.

That's why we have partitions, dear sir. I have a 1TB WD External Harddrive partitioned as 150GB WBFS and 850GB Ext4. For all my Wii gaming and scifi/anime storage needs =D. Yes, I'm a fulltime Linux user.

I did mention dual partitions, but I guess I shouldve added it on the WBFS line as well. Im still drinking my morning coffee lol
