Great game love it. Cant wait till akaio update so i can have my card again. I may have to upgrade to dstwo since they update faster.

I bet you see an AKAIO update in the next day or so. I'm guessing they have it pretty much done but wanted to make sure it worked for the U.S. region. I find that smart as the R4i Gold 3DS (www.r4ids.cn) said there card natively supported 2.2.0-4 and it DOES NOT for the U.S. region. I know they'll release a patch also but they spoke too soon. I sent then an e-mail to let them know they need to release a patch ASAP.

Well, just beat World 2, and I'm really liking the game so far. The graphics are amazing, and it runs smooth. I'm also really liking the level design. Some of the star coins are pretty cleverly hidden, and the rest of the level design is nice in general. Not too linear, but not boring either.

Reviews are pretty decent although they peg it as a little too easy. Feels almost like a carbon copy of my New Super Mario Bros. (the original DS one) thoughts for me.

Okay, I'm interested, but I'll wait for a few more 3DS games to come out to even consider a purchase. So far it only looks like Tetris Axis, this, and Mario Kart 7 are on the list for me. Tetris Axis is a huge maybe though since I can get it on pretty much any platform for less (or in most cases, free) and have basically the same game (current Tetris platform is the PSP).

im on world 3 now. I have something like 46 lives which is kinda crazy lmao. The game is fun albiet kinda easy so far tho. Hopefully it gets more challenging. Also the 3d seems to be pretty minor, even with the slider all the way up theres not much depth to it. The soundtrack is familair incorporating various mario themes and levels from previous games. To early for me to judge if I consider this a must have 3ds game but its fun so far.

Yeah, it is a bit easy. have 20+ lives in world 2

also, you can change 3D modes to pop out or depth, by pressing up or down on the d-pad. (I discovered that by accident)
I use "pop out" as it's easier on the eyes.

Slightly unrelated, anybody tried that "join game" option yet?

The game looks amazing, but I canceled my pre-order because I don't have enough time for games really.

Even though they said it's really short, I rather not spend $40 on a short game and feel even more overwhelmed with all the work I have.

Maybe after this week if I feel like it, because my big paper is due. If not, maybe around Christmas.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great game but after getting past all the regular 8 worlds and almost being done world 5 of the special worlds in jus t a few hours, I probably will be selling it this week, something I never do with games. Just not a whole lot of replay value. NSMB for ds had a good amount of replay value, not so much NSMB:Wii but more than super mario 3d land.

Finally picked up the game and in no way am I disappointed. The game is very fluid and represents the 3D effect the best. Controlling Mario using the 3D slide pad is amazing. I have never played a better Mario game to date.

It's a little to easy to progress in the game, but I expect to beat the game multiple times just like you would with any Mario game. The story is a tiny notch up from NSMB on the DS. What happened to the fun interesting characters of the Mario world instead of just platforming? I'd like the next Mario game to show a little backbone and depth like Super Mario 64, Paper Mario and Super Star Saga series. Hopefully Paper Mario picks these characteristics that Super Mario 3D Land didn't represent.

I still have to wait another 10 days 'till the Australian release, which has been feeling like forever so far. I'm hoping you guys are enjoying it though...

Beat the first 3 Worlds in an hour and a half. Really awesome game, having a blast with it. People who haven't touched it are complaining it's regarded as easy and short. It looks like a 4+ hour game to me and for a Mario game that's very well acceptable. And all Mario games are pretty much easy but they're fun as hell so I don't care!

The IGN review says that the game gets really hard after the 8th world. Even for the Mario (Galaxy) veterans!

My friend picked up my preorder yesterday at around 4pm and I played till about 11pm. I could not put the game down and I beat the main story and got the 3 coins in every level. I unlocked these special stages and I can't wait to beat those too. The game looks great, plays great, and it's just really good

I had a problem yesterday when I played. Whenever I used the binoculars, the view kept moving to the left, even if I did nothing and kept the 3DS perfectly still. I'd try moving the view towards the right, but it did it real slowly because it kept trying to go to the left. Now a day later, it seems to move to the left just a little when I activate the binoculars, but that's it. It works fine after that.

That's my only complaint (as the game is nonetheless awesome), but if that function is based on the gyroscope, then I think my 3DS might have a faulty one.

Sounds like you need to recalibrate your circle pad. You can do so a la System settings. That, or their might be something lodged in your circle pad?

You can test it by playing face raiders. :)
