I have some questions about emulators (DeSmuME and NO$GBA),

1-Where can I download NO$GBA? ( I searched using google but the one I downloaded had problems so I want to know where you downloaded it)

2-In DeSmuME, is there a fix for slow games?

3-Is there any better emulator than DeSmuME and NO$GBA?

Thanks in advance!

PS: I don't know anything about emulators since I have a flashcard and a DS, and I find playing on a PC is interesting...

1. The official website of no$gba is here: http://nocash.emubase.de/gba.htm 2.6a is actually a paid version, but the creator went missing since 2007. A lot of sites have put up 2.6a for download ever since
2. You can configure a frame skip, or set different renderers. Toy a bit around with the settings and watch the results
3. DeSmuME is considered the best emulator by far. It still has support and emulates roms very accurately. The downside to this is that DeSmuME is slow on older computers. I always recommend no$gba on slower computers and DeSmuME for faster computers.

Note: no$gba doesn't work all too well with ds games, but is a lot faster. I'd recommend downloading no$zoomer as well to get some extra functions and better compatibility.

Thanks, so what you meant was that 2.6a is the latest version and it's a paid version, but I can download it free from other websites?

Oh, and why does DeSmuME change the font style for some of the DS games, and how can I fix that?

Try changing the graphics filter, sometimes certain filters make the text look weird. And besides, I don't think anyone will give a crap if you download no$gba 2.6a for free (that's what I did). It's not like Martin can do anything about it anyway since he's been gone for over three years.

The very trick is that no$gba has stopped evolving while Desmume is still being worked on so it won't be much time before Desmume will chase up to no$gba and overcome it
Bah in my opinion he overcame it already in many aspects :P

Sorry for double posting, but I tried both DeSmuME and NO$GBA w/NO$Zoomer, and I found that NO$GBA w/ NO$Zoomer is better by a lot. DeSmuME was really slow on graphics and sound, but NO$GBA w/ NO$Zoomer emulated the same speed as the DS ( I tried the same game on DSTWO and DeSmuME and NO$GBA w/ NO$Zoomer)

I'll try that later, but in the meantime is there any fix for the annoying sound on NO$Zoomer other than the "Noise suppression" fix. (I am playing Inazuma eleven 3 ogre, and when any character talks (I can hear his voice) the noisy sound occurs and it's kind of lame and tiring to press "Noise Suppression" everytime)

I updated my audio driver to no prevail... :(

That's not the sound driver's fault, no$gba's sound emulation is very bad. Without no$zoomer sound can be a straight-down horrible. Hence why DeSmuME is considered better, even though it requires a recent pc. As for speeding up no$gba, go into the emulation options and search for the setting "unlimited Mhz disaster" that should give a good speed boost. (note I'm doing this from the top of my head because it's quite some time I've used no$)

Sorry for that, in DeSmuME, there are some settings that will speed up your games. First set the screen size at 1X, that will give you a pretty good speed boost, also the render method should be set to normal to counter slowdown. These are the default settings, but you might've changed them (both can be found in the main menu at view).

Moving up to config, go to the frameskip setting. There are two kinds, fixed skip and auto-skip. Fixed skip will make your games choppier, but saves you a lot of speed. The auto skip setting automatically makes you skip frames if the game runs too slow and you can limit it to a certain amount. Moving on to sound settings, ensure that you have checked Dual SPU as the sound sync mode and set the linear option at interpolation. You might also take a look at the 3d settings, and see if changing the rendering method will speed up DeSmuME. While you're there, also look if all checkboxes are not checked, as those options require an up to date GPU.

If all of that doesn't help, then your computer can't handle DeSmuME, no$gba is the best alternative, however I would keep an eye on the updates because they might improve the speed.

Could you please stop mentioning that emulator repack? Nobody's interested in it.

Some games in no$gba still sound really crappy compared to DeSmuME (Mario 64 DS, Tales of the Tempest, etc)
thats true
when playing call of duty modern warefare 3 on DeSuME the sounds its BAD the music sounds bad or maybe its because the game is in the language German :P

Depends which game but no$gba is totally bad when it comes to PSG and generated sound, tough he does middle good on tracker music and files music
However for development I use Desmume only

How did you make that sig (above Mettaurs Mafia)
Uhm...Mettaurs and some letters? XD

Yup, bad bad bad :P
No$gba works good for me even under Wine (Linux) tough the fact that some sounds are played horrible is the problem of no$gba itself in the end

I said that DeSmuME was slow, not NO$GBA.
Desmume requires a bit more work and You will see how it will pow the world :P

Fixed skip will make your games choppier, but saves you a lot of speed.
I agree there

Oh? I will check it out for sure ^_^
Will AMD Radeon HD 6770 do fine there? :P

Some games in no$gba still sound really crappy compared to DeSmuME (Mario 64 DS, Tales of the Tempest, etc)
And whole PSG part as mentioned

when playing call of duty modern warefare 3 on DeSuME the sounds its BAD the music sounds bad or maybe its because the game is in the language German :P
It's because of German I'm sure of it xD
