Shine the virtual world onto the real world with this very clever tech using 4 Kinects mounted on the cieling and a handheld kinect with a pico projector.
Awesome.

#1 ITS NOT A HACK ITS A UTILISATION OF KINECT! THERE IS NO HACKING OF THE SYSTEM INVOLVED!

#2 OMG THAT IS SOOOOO COOL! Seriously, I was skeptical until the last thing he took out, a handheld (albeit tethered) device that sees, memorises and can then render onto a virtual version of the real world and show its interactions? Awesome concept. I think that the Kinect is a dead end for games but as a UI tool it could be seriously good.

Thank you.

And on another note, this seems cool, though I don't have a 360,..

The only down side to it I can see is that this setup is that if you exclude the PICO projector, time and effort it took to make the hand held units, the software it runs on, and the scientist figuring it all out:- would cost at least £500 just for the Kinects alone, then you need cieling mounts.

I think I can gladly call this as 10 years ahead of time. Next, Next Gen.

I don't have a 360 either... now I want 5.

There are PC (and probably Linux) drivers for the Kinect, so you don't need a 360 to use it for these purposes. Nor would you even use a 360 when doing this.
