Resident-Evil-Revelations.jpg

Someone’s always thinking about a new Resident Evil game, or something interesting that we could do, so I [Tsukasa Takenaka] would say that there was the idea for a Resident Evil game that ended up being the core of Revelations before we had the new hardware; then, as soon as we get it in our hands and see what it’s capable of, all of those ideas really take shape.A lot of it is visual, but with that added dimension — you kind of going into the game, the feeling of presence in the game — really does enhance the horror in a way that you can’t really do with just a 2D screen. Also, the sound of the 3DS is really, really great. Certainly, if you’re really wanting to immerse yourself in an environment, maybe the speakers of the 3DS aren’t 100 percent up to the task, but if you get some headphones, and experience the environment that way, it’s really quite immersive.

Sounds great. It sucks that the volume is so low on the speakers and even the headphones. I prey they fix this with a firmware update.
no fix needed. go get a noise cancelling headphones. those in-ear plugs work perfectly for the job at hand, giving you noise cancelling by plugging your ear. this lets you hear the faintest of sounds just fine.

The loudness of the sound varies on a software-by-software basis. For example, 3DS Music is of moderate volume at max capacity, but Netflix is of very loud volume at max capacity.

I notice this as well (with headphones on):
Ridge Racer was really much on the soft side
SSFIV was moderately loud at full volume
I almost turned deaf by launching/selecting an icon on the home menu with full volume.

That screenshot isn't from the 3DS version, where is it from?

yes it is

http://uk.ds.ign.com...d=3eqcf88nv9421

As much as I'd like to think so, that picture is 800x480, something not possible on the 3DS.
With the 3D on the resolution is increased, giving you a wider view of everything, as much more can be fit onto the screen, although this is not 3D, you will see something to this extent with the 3D turned on on your 3DS, except it will look 3D and it will seem as though you are in that place rather than being 2D.

Just put simply, this is from the 3DS. The game is being made for the 3DS. Your petty argument is null and void so you can just give up. Good Day.

Um, the 3DS's display mode in 2D is 400x240. Even if it used the whole display with individual rectangle pixels in 2D mode, it would only make up 800x240. The 3DS doesn't have an 800x480 display mode, making your argument null and void. Even if the image shown is perfectly up-scaled, that amount of detail is not what we'll see on a 3DS. Increasing the resolution means nothing when such an product is not available to the public, much like dev units that would have double the RAM.

Jeesh, stop whining about the image already. It's just a pre-rendered image cropped to whatever convenient size. Nothing to make a fuzz over, move a long...

I don't see how the 3D would really help it much at all... The only practical use I've seen for the 3D so far was to judge distance in PilotWings. I can imagine it being useful in a game that requires (intricate) movement through space... But not a shooter. Unless you really need that extra depth.
