I received my Acekard 2i and peeled off the sticker, then went over and checked it online; all legit.

I downloaded AKAIO 1.8.8 and put the akmenu4.nds and __aio on the (Panasonic SD formatted) SD card (8GB, class 4).

I just get "System file is missing". Could anything have gone wrong?

Post a screenshot of your card folder layout, just in case your files are in the wrong place.

Also, make sure the card's making a good contact with the DS, some acecards have very loose connectors.

Yep I tried those steps, and I'm 100% sure the files are in the correct place (the root of the SD card).

I just tried sticking them on my 2GB card (from my R4) and the Acekard now boots up correctly, so I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with the 8GB card. Or perhaps I need to update the Acekard's firmaware? I'm using a DS Lite btw.

It's an unbranded card. Tried the 1.8.7 release and that didn't work, either.

I have a 16GB card I could try but that will have to wait until tomorrow as I have a train to catch!

Pretty annoying if it is the SD card at fault, especially since I ordered it with the Acekard, from Hong Kong.

Edit: at least I know it's not the Acekard at fault :)

A quick update, in the hope of getting further suggestions:

I tested the 16GB (Lexar) SDHC card I have, and that works fine -- unfortunately I need that in my phone! I tried using the HP formatting tool and did a full format of the 8GB card but at startup I just got a "Loading" screen forever -- yes, I did check the contacts etc., they seem fine and the other two cards work fine. I also tried 1.8.7 just in case it was 1.8.8 leaving me with an infinite Loading screen, but that gave the exact same result.

I'm currently doing an "OverWrite" full format of the 8GB card with the Panasonic formatting tool (the v3 that they gave to the SD-3C).

In summary:
  • I know where to put the files on an SD card (impressive, eh?)
  • The Acekard works with my old 2GB card, and also with a 16GB card it's not allowed to keep ;)
  • It seems like the formatting of the 8GB card might be at fault, so I'm doing as full a format as I can in order to test a fix.

Further update: having done a full format as specified in my last post, and adding the 1.8.8 files to the root, I'm back to the start; "System file is missing".

Any ideas?

Edit: Just remembered I have another 8GB card in my MP3 player. Let's see if switching them over reaches a satisfactory conclusion!

I switched them over, the MP3 player seems fine with the shitty HK SD, albeit REALLY damn slow to copy music over (6GB took around an hour...)

On the plus side the 8GB Samsung card works fine with the Acekard so this thread can be considered "SOLVED". (Edit: I can't seem to change the thread title, so perhaps an admin can do so if they happen across this.)

Thanks for the suggestions and help, now to have a go with my new Acekard!
