Hey everyone,

I've been working on a Wii U port of Lighthouse, the Banjo-Kazooie PC port.

The goal is to bring Lighthouse to the Wii U while keeping the improvements and features from the PC version, along with some additional features of my own.

Current features

  • Wii U port
  • 60 FPS support
  • Upscaling
  • Multiplayer co-op implemented
  • Randomizer support

Multiplayer Co-op

One of the main features is multiplayer co-op.

The basic co-op functionality is already implemented, allowing two players to play Banjo-Kazooie together. (Including cross-platform, YES YOU CAN PLAY PC AND WII U TOGETHER)

There is still testing and polishing to do, but the core functionality is working.

Randomizer

The port also supports a randomizer.

This allows different elements of the game to be randomized, making each playthrough potentially different and giving the game more replayability.

60 FPS and Upscaling

The port supports 60 FPS and upscaling, taking advantage of what the Wii U hardware can do while keeping the original look and feel of Banjo-Kazooie.

About the Project

To clarify, this isn't a port made directly from the original N64 game.

Lighthouse is already a PC port of Banjo-Kazooie, and this project is a port of Lighthouse to Wii U.

So the work is focused on adapting Lighthouse and its systems to the Wii U hardware while adding and improving features along the way.

Still a work in progress

yes its online and has cross play with the PC version just press select on the controller go to multiplayer and make sure both players have the same roomID

Awesome, I can't wait to see how the project progresses. I'm already testing it and it works really well, although I didn't remember the underwater controls of banjo kazooie being so weird lol, Isn't there a way to reverse the underwater controls?

the heck i need to setup it how to setup it ?
just read the "Read Me First" file and follow the steps

yeah i was aiming for a more "modern" controll scheme for swimming and flying, i'll add an option to revert the underwater controlls back to normal.

Can this work thru cbhc or does it need aroma?

The online mode is just the normal game in co-op: all major items are shared, and consumables are separate for each player.

Banjo-Kazooie Wii U / PC - v1.5 Patch Notes
  • Fixed HOME Freeze: Solved 5 stacked system bugs that previously locked up the console when closing the game.
  • Retro Resolutions: Added 240p (4:3 N64 style), 240p Widescreen, and 480p output settings.
  • Classic Controller: Added full button mapping for the Wii Classic Controller on Wii U. (untested)
  • QoL & Cross-Play: Settings save on menu close; PC and Wii U builds now match for Co-op.
  • Known Issue: Resuming the game after launching another app from the HOME menu can freeze the frame. (download manager for example)

Nice, the game works well, the performance is great, but sometimes the game crashes randomly, But I'm glad the project continues to receive updates

Is it just me, or does the 16:9 look a little horizontally squished? 3D objects look too thin. Though it may be how the game is actually supposed to look.

The oot port however looks, at least to me proper in 16:9.
