Pokémon X/Twitter account compromised to advertise memecoin

For half an hour, the Pokémon Company Twitter account was hacked by an unknown party to promote a Pokémon memecoin. Memecoins are a form of cryptocurrency made only to be driven by social media hype and memes with little to no value. After the account was fully recovered, the Pokémon Company issued a statement towards their loyal fanbase denying that they were involved in cryptocurrency:

We’re aware that our X account was accessed without authorization and used to publish posts promoting a cryptocurrency.

Those posts were not created or approved by Pokémon and have been removed. We're sorry for the confusion and appreciate your patience.
