So will your hd packs ever work on a newer version of pcxs2? I don't really want 2 different versions of pcxs2 if possible...

Yeah, the HD packs should work on newer versions of PCSX2. I personally stick with an older version because I prefer the way it handles texture dumping and texture replacements. I don't really like some of the changes to texture handling in the newer builds, so the older version works better for my workflow.


That being said, you definitely don't have to use the same PCSX2 version I use. Someone recently tested my Scarface: The World Is Yours HD Pack on PCSX2 Nightly v2.7.359 and recorded around 30 minutes of gameplay with it working:





So newer PCSX2 versions can work with the pack. I just can't personally guarantee every newer build because I develop and test my packs using the version of PCSX2 that I prefer.

Oh ok great!!! I have one more question for you, would it be possible to have the rain and blood droplets like the pc version has? When you shoot people or if it's raining it will be directly on your screen. I'm going to try your HD pack out tonight and will probably donate to you for all of your hard work. You are really appreciated more than you know.....

As for the rain and blood droplets appearing directly on the screen like the PC version, unfortunately that's not something I can add through the HD texture pack itself. The pack replaces and improves textures that the PS2 game already loads; it can't add new gameplay or rendering effects that aren't being called by the game.
If that effect exists somewhere in the PS2 version but is disabled or unused, then it might potentially be possible through a patch/code. That's something I'd have to investigate separately. If I ever find a way to get it working properly, I'd definitely consider adding it as an optional patch.
