Hello all.

When you run pfbn it creates folders for a bunch of consoles.

Gamebrew org states "pFBN (formerly pFBA) is a port of Final Burn Neo, an arcade and console emulator for the Nintendo Switch. It can run arcade roms (NeoGeo, cps1, cps2, cps3...) and console roms (MegaDrive, Master System, Game Gear, PC Engine...)."

You are able to "switch systems" in the pfbn ui to switch between arcade roms and other consoles but when i select a megadrive rom, it says it id unsupported by pfbn.

Am i doing something wrong?

Thanks.

If you like pfbn UI, there is pgen (portable genesis) from the same author. pgen does admit almost every megadrive, mastersystem, gamegear and 32x game.
Or, for more advanced users, retroarch ofc.
Entering the gray area, if you're interested on megadrive particularly, you can look for modified nso packages out there with hundreds of megadrive roms inside besides the official ones.

I must be really stupid because i cant get retroarch to work. Everytime i follow a new guide i get a different error message. Whats the best guide for retroarch when on 2026 firmware please? I couldnt get the nightly ones to work.

It should, but why bother? It only eats roms with very certain CRC that are whitelisted
I dont understand why it is programmed to do this when pgen runs all md roms.

finalburn/mame are coded to only works with verified romsets for compability/sustainablity reasons. Not as crucial for home consoles ofc, but maybe this CRC thing is hardcoded
