Is there any other PS2 modchip then the Modbo 5.0 that is still produced/available at low costs?

I've a phat PS2 (SCPH-39004) which I want to install a modchip in it. But the widely available Modbo 5.0 chips have a bug (https://gbatemp.net/threads/music-o...on-is-slow-on-pal-ps2-with-modbo-chip.637695/) when playing some out-of-region (NTSC) PS1 games. Those run at the wrong framerate and plays in "slow motion". Other PS2's with a pre-installed Matrix Infinity or Ripper 2 doesn't have this problem, but every unit with a Modbo 5.0 does, so I suppose it's a chip-specific bug.

Are there other options then the Modbo 5.0 nowadays?

Magic ICE is an option, but it's an older modchip and you need to build it completely by yourself (which will cost a fuck ton.)

Unfortunately, not. However, what you can do, is you can make a Magic Ice like somebody said, and if you've got the technical expertise, and know where to find the chips (because again, out of production), then you can build and program your own that'll work like any other.

There's another chip (but it's a firmware) called "Fruitchip" but it's still in beta, and requires a Raspberry Pi Pico, which is a lot more accessible.

If you have the means to import and use an NTSC-U unit compatible with MechaPwn, it probably wouldn't be the most cost-effective way considering you already have a PAL unit, but then you wouldn't need to worry about using a modchip at all.

Also, the half-emulated PS1 backwards compatibility on fat and 1 slim model (2 depending on how you classify them) isn't perfect and has some general compatibility issues as well as graphical glitches in a few games, as the CPU is "native" but GPU is entirely emulated. There are better ways to play PS1 games than that.
