You know, so many people have lost their jobs, their fortunes, their lives...because they have uttered those words, "It wont get hacked."

You are either the most naive person on the plant or you obviously no nothing because there is no such thing as hacker proof. I'm not saying its going to happen today or tomorrow, but it will happen. Theirs an old saying amongst us old pharts that started out as phreakers on BBS's, physical access = total access. I remember listing to the DEC rep at my dads work talk about how the PDP-10 running the latest version of BSD was going to solve all the problems in the world, and it was the most secure computer ever built.

Then there was this guy named Steve Jobs who built this little company you may have heard of, Apple Inc. While windows had been faced with sinking ships since Win95, Apple touted that its OS was unhackable...only to get hacked.

Then there was this brilliant yet very odd man named John McAfee who had spent most his career working in cryptology, malware, spyware...etc. And yes, he is the founder of the most annoying anti-virus company on the planet. Enter Bitfi, the most secure crypto wallet...in the entire world. It took 2-3 days for the device to be rooted and completely hacked.

Tldr; Its already been hacked because nothing is unhackable. I can tell you that it has already been hacked, but not everyone wants to release their hacks. A) Maybe because they have reported it for a bounty. B) Because it is so complex that its not very practical or useable yet and are working on finding another more practical method/creating a toolkit to streamline it. C) But more than likely, its because they don't want to deal with whinny little skript kiddies ripping their work off so it can be used for piracy, so they wont release their PoC until the method has been patched. D) Worst case, some greedy pos is holding it until they can find a way to monetize it like twisted @ team xecuter did.

Correct answer is: C and D

(No its not me who has hacked it. But then again, even if I did I wouldn't share it publicly with how the modding/hacking scene has been over the last decade.)

in reality the only way for someone to profit of a potential switch 2 exploit would be if the exploit worked on any firmware version or was a hardware exploit that was really easy to do (like switch 1) in any other scenario it wouldnt be worth the risk of releasing something like this for only a few people with old firmwares to buy. also we need to remember that team xecuter was sued for what they did so i doubt anyone would be brave enough to do the same thing as they did. Its cool to be wishful but an exploit is gonna release probably in a few years at the earliest.

I think the switch 2 whatever year it gets hacked, will be for be for all firmwares. I think, I can’t remember but I recall switch 1 supposedly had a permanent hack but one of the people working on it, told Nintendo about it for money, so if something is currently available, maybe each firmware for switch 2 will have it as long as it’s not patched. I don’t have a switch 2 but maybe I get one used at a decent price if a hack like that happens.

wdym by permanent hack, the switch 1 had a hardware hack you could call permanent since it was unpatchable via an update, but that was released so idk what ur referring to

Oh great. Here we go with this notorious thread again. Prepare for the morons chirping in with more nonsense about nothing being unhackable (plenty of devices dating to at least the 90s have never been hacked) and about how some top secret elite hacking collective has already exploited the Switch 2, but they are keeping it to themselves for now. Some of you are so gullible!

Not unless some zero day exploit is found.

In the hardware department, i think they did their homework. i don't think a modchip will be viable.

Well to be fair even the Xbox One (Fat) was recently found to be susceptible to hardware glitching and possible hacking. So far, in the console realm, AFAIK, only Xbox One S and newer (includes One X and Series S/X) have been hack free.

I don't like Microslop, but they did a great job on the One/Series OS (if only they did the same with mainline Windows...)

No need for it to be compatible with all firmware. Firendly reminder of the 3DS era. One of the first widely used CFW was only compatible with the 4.1-4.5 FW. Another was restricted to the 9.0-9.2 FW. That was before it became possible to install it on any FW. Sometime, hackers will simply tell people "don't update to 9.3" or something like that, so that we know that a CFW/hack is on the way. The main problem here, would be to spread this message as much as possible, and find a way to block update before the console auto-updates (DNS?). I don't know if quoting people like that could get GBATemp in trouble, if they were to front page such message.

I don’t recall the firmware, how it was going to be, but I think it was around firmware 6.0-7.0. I’m sure the info about it, is somewhere on gbatemp.

Yeah no device is prob unhackable. But you can go so long that a hack is worthless when it is found. Or the hack is completely unviable for end users to do themselves thus it isn't a massive issue.

Capcom CPS2 went its entire life without a bootleg.

Xbox 360 Almost 20 years for a new kernel exploit. Not hack proof but the 360's prime is long gone. It did its job and MS does not care to ship out the simple patch to fix it.

Xbox one. 10 years for the first revision to get hacked. Took until the console was discontinued security did its job and there will be no xbox one hacking scene. While yes it did get a kernel exploit 2 years ago. You had to be on a specific FW range and MS patched it so quickly almost not xbox out there has this FW. And nothing came out of this exploit.

Xbox Series Not a hint of a exploit.

Switch 1 has gone 9 years without a kernel exploit. Its in the status of likely will never see a kernel hack until Nintendo themselves make a mistake in a future FW, Console was only hacked via a bootrom bug or Voltage glitching in later models.

Switch 2 reuses mostly the same OS as switch 1. Fixed the 2 hardware entry points from the switch 1.

Nobody was trying to hack the xbox since they had dev mode and allowed you to sideload software/homebrew, people just weren't interested.

It's "know nothing", not "no nothing". And what's with the excessive paragraph spacing?

P.S. Your "tldr" is too long.
