The Pentagon said we did it

And yes it was an error, we didn't mean to kill them but our government did

Potential exists for that kind of p.r. when elementary schools are built adjacent to legit military targets. That's what they build them like that. Where did ya think the Gazans learned to do it?

Israel and the US attacked first, we were already the bad guys before killing a bunch of school girls on top of that.

Trump is open to the possibility of bringing back the draft.
https://people.com/karoline-leavitt-says-trump-not-ruling-out-military-draft-amid-iran-war-11921874

I'll sooner put a bullet through my skull than fight for this country.
Calm down. Leavitt was asked to come up with an answer she hadn't prepared for, that's all. But of course, given how this is a pretty hot topic, you can bet that it's only a matter of time before Trump will bring clarity about this in his usual matter. You know...

As for the options of a draft, I should say we look into it, y'know. It might not happen because it's horrible like the radical left has not seen like ever, but we can't rule it out because who knows what might happen. It might never happen. Wouldn't that be great?

(also: what's with that article and pictures? for some reason it shows 3 photo's of Trump over a year, and it's like he's 20 years older)

I almost feel sorry for Trump fans (okay... Not at all) trying to defend his stance on Iran. Why? Because there isn't anything remotely coherent. Heck... Even Donald Trump now contradicts himself in the very same speech, apparently.

https://edition.cnn.com/2026/03/09/politics/trump-iran-war-contradictions

If there's ever a war movie about this, you could montage some Benny Hill music under current communications.
Trump: it's very much over!
White house: we've only begun to fight.
Trump: we've won, but not enough!

Trump: Iran has shot everything
Also Trump: they're down to less than 10%

Trump: all their comm is completely gone
Also Trump: their comm is diminished

Trump: they have no navy left!
Iran: *occupies hormuz strait*

Trump: we've sunk 46 ships. No, wait... 50. 51!

Trump: it as Iran who bombed that school!
Trump:... With a generic tomahawk missile.
Trump:... That our intelligence knew nothing about
Trump:... And that they fired while we were bombing them.
Hegseth: ehm... It's actually under investigation.

The US and allies are planning to release strategic oil reserves globally to quell prices over the coming days

This got me interested in how the 1970s oil crisis played out
In 1973 prior to the Yom Kippur war, oil was $3/barrel
By 1979 during the Iranian revolution, it was $39.50/barrel

In other words, the price of oil saw more than a 1000% increase

If this were to happen today, we would see gas prices near $30/gallon in the US, and likely 2x that price in Europe

But the average USA price for a gallon of gas in 1973 was 39 cents, and the average price for a gallon of gas in 1979 was around 88 cents. By 1983 when I started driving, it was about $1.24 a gallon. So plain ol' inflation is playing a part in the price increases over time. And the price of a barrel of crude is related to the price of refined gasoline (obviously), but it's not directly correlative. Or else a gallon of gas in 1979 would've been over 4 dollars (applying your numbers).

the big reason why the average gas price for 1979 is not a good measure here in relation to my statement, is because 39.50 was the absolute peak price of oil

we would have to know the peak gasoline price that year to really see if what I said has merit (if there was a strong relationship)
