So I bought got a vita last month and never got around to messing with it as I've been fairly busy with other things. I attempted to play it today however no matter what I do it does not seem to turn on at all. The orange light for charging is on but nothing else I do seems to register a response from the system. Any thoughts on what I can do here? Is it bricked or something? If it is is there some way to fix it? I've heard Vita's are hard to hard-brick. I personally have no interest in modding it myself I just wished to have a vita.

You might have a dead battery. If the battery is fully dead it is possible that the system wont turn on (i think based on how the circuits in cell phones charging are made).

Its also possible that the power button need to be clean or replaced.

My suggestion is to open it, test the battery voltage or at least disconnect it and reconnect, clean the buttons and if possible check if the switch changes from close to open circuit (with a circuit continuity checker, like a Multi-meter).

Alright I can do that.

Just heads up looks like I wasn't getting any power on the battery so I ordered a new one. I'm not sure if that's whats wrong with it entirely because I was also told that the system had come on and was just a black screen so when that comes in from Amazon (which it should've already shipped but hasn't) then I'll give an update. Thank you for your help so far.

Which charger are you using? Sometimes when my Vita's battery dies, it enters a weird state where it won't charge or turn on unless I connect it to the OEM charger.
I had one in which it was just connecting to my pc, the charging light was on the whole time with it so I'm assuming it was attempting to charge it?

Try leaving the battery unplugged while having it connected to a power source, I am actually going to go grab mine that's been dead for at least a month now and see if I get the same symptoms
