A surprise to ring in the New Year was the discovery of what could potentially help lead to developments in the PlayStation 5 hacking scene. Internal files from Sony have leaked onto the internet, which includes "Level 0 BootROM keys" for the PS5. These keys are instrumental in understanding how the PlayStation 5 operates, and could also be used to decrypt the PS5's bootloader. As it stands, since they exist on a hardware level, there's nothing Sony can do to patch away the vulnerability of the keys being readily available online. However, while useful to have, PlayStation scene member Jose Coixao stressed that this by no means guarantees an easy hack for the PS5, since there's still plenty of other work involved in being able to exploit a console. Time will tell if those within the scene can make any headway with the discovery of these keys.

Nothing is using the keys or can use the keys until we have the fuses and nand groups

That game is also long sold out everywhere since it was announced 4ish days ago

Isn't that a different thing? I keep seeing people saying that any exploit with the leaked keys will NOT be FW dependent and the only way Sony can patch it is with a HW revision. Then I keep seeing this thing about the Star Wars game being able to be used to jailbreak a PS5 ONLY up to FW 12.

This is a whole nothingburger made to thrive off misinformation surrounding the leaked keys made by the tabloids to make it a big deal. There's still work that needs to be done to unlock the PS5, such as learning how to decrypt the fuses which is by no means an easy task, understanding the firmware, weak points that might be of a leverage to homebrew, and so forth. All we have right now are the 'boot ROM' keys, so nothing to decrypt and sign titles or fully exploit the system further, but it's a good starting point.

I thought I read ps5 rifs / licensing are done slightly differently, and this idea wouldn't work.

Couldn't one simply install fpkg version of racer revenge on a lower jailbreakable ps5 then update to 12.00 when everything is released and use new jailbreak? Or am I missing something here lol screw those scalpers.
