I'm running 20.4.0 AMS and 1.10.1 E

I'm trying to install Tinfoil (version 20.0 NRO self installer) but I'm having an error, when doing it.


Could anyone guide me on what could be the cause and how to fix it?

@n4boo TInfoil V20 don't work on AMS 1.10.1,stops at 1.9.5 AMS to run.
Need totally recompiled homebrew app to work on last AMS.

Thank you for that. I'm trying to give my old nintendo switch (bought a nintendo switch 2, orraaayy!) to a friend that doesn't have resources to buy games. I'm not a pro doing these things, a programmer or wathever. But I'm doing my best here.

Any recommendations on how can I work around it and finally install some games for him?

@n4boo if you are on 20.4.0 OFW downgrade AMS to 1.9.5 if you want TInfoil return to work.

Use another installer or downgrade to AMS 1.9.5

Last time I checked this thread you needed to reinstall some titles for them too work after the latest firmware update. Is this still the case? I’ve no rush to update my firmware but I’m just curious. Thanks and happy holidays

I didn't have to reinstall any games going from 20.x.x to 21.1.0 , but you might have to reinstall games if you didn't set up syspatches correctly prior to launching any games, as for other stuffs you would have to update homebrews.

@Hayato213 it always depends on the games you have installed on the Switch(i had 209),rvery now and then when you update a game it asks you to update the system,i tried many times to reset the minimum firmware request with DBI but it never worked.

That's because the console automatically downloaded firmware update nca files in the background (even though you had automatic updates turned off). You could have deleted pending update files and turned your intenet off and you would have been able to play your game without updating. The new Sys-patch now has an automatic updates patch added so you can disable that from happening.

This attached version has that patch included + the linked account loop fix patch if you're on fw21+

NOTE; If the game update needs a key to decrypt the NCA files or the correct firmware sdk to play, yes you need to update, but generally it's the pending update files that cause the issue.

DNS has always been active and i haven't modded for 2 days but from years.
My console has been constantly i only turn on Wi-Fi and my smartphone's hotspot to transfer small files and screenshots with FTP.
I only use @impeeza sys-patches.

If your intenet is connected at any point (and your dns wasn't working), it will try to download firmware update NCA files from Nintendo servers in the background if you are not on the latest firmware, it stores these in the pending updates folder in your switch nand, you can check with various programs to see if you have any of these files. I think goldleaf has that feature, or you can go into maintenance mode to remove them.

I already followed someone's advice here to do a reset in maintenance mode because i had a problem and lost 209 games,luckily i only have the saves of all of them left.
Same thing that others had battery drain with firmware 20.x.x and i didn't because i was always offline.

I repeat,i followed the wrong advice of someone here who claims to be an expert and had everything deleted to solve the problem i was having,i only have my game saves left and now i have to recover 224 GB.

This is maintenance mode:
Nintendo Switch Recovery Mode (or Maintenance Mode) helps fix issues by offering options like system updates, restoring factory settings (with or without deleting save data), and initializing the console, accessed by holding Volume Up + Volume Down + Power Button after the Switch is fully off, then releasing buttons when the menu appears. It's a useful troubleshooting tool for problems like system errors or update failures, providing a way to repair or reset the device without always losing game progress.

if you setup dns blocker it does not nag you about system update, I don't use patch the game required firmware. I got one system sitting on 20.4.0 no update nag

@Hayato213 i meant games that require a system update, like Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragon, which required a system update when you updated the game.
Do you think ididn't set up DNS blocking?

If you have 2 games installed on the Switch i don't know what else to say.

I recommend you to set up exosphere not use 90dns , I don't even use 90dns anymore.
