Getting online access, but stuck on 5.5.3

I'm attempting to update a WiiU I used the Mochi CFW exploit on 10ish years ago.

I've been able to get Aroma to boot via wiiuexploit.xyz, but I can't progress further because the system is disabling online access due to me being on 5.5.3 and I can't update to 5.5.6 since WiiU servers are down.

I know I can get Aroma working by manually adding EnvironmentLoader onto my SD card, but after that I'm not sure how I can restore online access so it's easier to update and install any other apps.

The Wii U content CDN should still be up for updates, regardless of Nintendo Network being shut down for online play.

If you can update via System Settings without using any exploits, you can get Aroma just fine.

Weird I get error code 105-3029 when I try to and auto-dns is enabled. Is there something from my original exploit that may blocking updates and if so, how do I find it?

I do have browser access, so I'm a bit confused.

I'm wondering if updating via NUSspli is the answer here?
