Forgive me if this is very obviously stupid, I only have around five years of coding experience in non gaming areas.

I've been looking into this for about a month now as a VERY long term project, obviously there's a lot of homework I'll need to do before I even touch the wii u sdk but I was mainly wondering about how it would shake out hardware-wise. From my own testing, it's generally not any more intensive than half genie hero usually, but the reported minimum requirements have jumped from 2gb of ram to a whole 8gb. The way I see it, that's mainly for the animatics and cutscenes. Were I to remove those it would have a way better chance of running. But with only 1gb of ram freely available I'm not sure if it'll be possible. I know certain games like botw and bayonetta utilize around 65% of the available memory by taking from the system allocation but I wasn't able to find any sort of non-speculatory info on this.

Im going to start with the basics of wii u development and once I'm confident in my abilities to an extent I'll try and take a crack at this. I'm mainly just trying to find a game on simpler side and this was a standout option for me.

I think the game is too demanding with the 8 gb RAM. The last great port was Cuphead, which only needs 3-4 gb of RAM, and the loading times are not good at all.

But maybe @Juanen100 can give his opinion on that topic.

After all it's a switch game and I know someone who tried to port the mk8 switch courses to the wii u which just have lagged and weren't playable at all.
