Homebrew Project libnx ABI patcher - patches incompatible homebrew for Atmosphere 1.10+

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A MASSIVE HACK

Use this tool only for "abandonware" or homebrew that is no longer maintained. If the homebrew developer is still active, please ask them to update their application properly. Or if you can, do it yourself.

I made a quick web-based tool to patch not actively maintained homebrew.

As many have likely noticed by now, the firmware 21.0.0 introduced kernel changes, that broke all libnx-based homebrew. These changes were backported to all firmwares in Atmosphere 1.10.0+.

This tool has a single job - apply several small patches that should hopefully allow the homebrew to run without crashing on exit or randomly during runtime on all currently released all firmwares.

So far I've personally tested it on ABI unpatched versions of: mGBA, 4TU homebrew App Store, melonDS port, Themezer-NX, JKSV, pkDex and some personal apps.

Generally, if the tool reports that the threadEntry() patch is applied, it should work. Note that this tool does not apply LNY2 new ABI marker, so the warning in hbmenu is still intact. This is intentional, to let you know that the binary is technically outdated - the homebrew will run just fine.

Yeah that should be fine as a ovl is pretty much the same as a nro. You can even launch most of them using hbmenu or sphaira if you change the extension to nro.

yes they should, afaik .ovl are just renamed .nro files

Only soh/soh2 doesn't work. Seems the changes breaks the game (also via Album it's shows i need to run in full memory mode - but so it crashd)

I hope anyone can fix it^^ but "Data Abort" sound for me that it needs to be modified or something to get work again.

I've also just pushed a small update for the tool - .ovl extension is now accepted as well, corrected minor bugs, cleared up the text on About page

Tinfoil.nro doesn't work with this, it crashes on exit.

This one is probably better, as it's based on TextReaderOverlay-NX and TextReaderOverlay-NX-Plus. I hope someone can recompile it.

I tried that too and it crashes as well, I guess it needs changes more than rebuilding

new libnx decreases number of tls slots from 27 to 12. For some homebrew it is not enough and they should be rewritten.

Definitely. But, ya know, there are times when people want to use homebrew that's been abandoned, or, I don't know, maybe an old version of a homebrew? I know, I know: people are weird.
