Nintendo doesn't really know how to properly celebrate their license so i don't expect anything special

They didn't even bother to show glimpse of the next 3D Mario during the direct while I imagine there's a good chance it will be the big game for Christmas 2026.

I mean, they did do something for Zelda's 25th anniversary, didn't they? Maybe I'm just imagining...

If a new 3D Mario is due out for the 2026 Christmas season, I wouldn't expect any announcements until about mid-year. Nintendo doesn't like to announce things early, just in case the project is canned or reworked. (Metroid Prime 4 is a great example of an exception. MP4 was announced in 2017.)

There is that Zelda movie in development, so we might see a teaser trailer for that. Beyond that, I think Nintendo will probably release a new mainline Zelda round the mid-way point of the Switch 2's lifespan. Then, they'll line up the sequel with the release of their next console. That's my guess.

TL;DR: A teaser trailer for the movie with no footage, and a mobile Zelda-themed infinite runner.

In my memory, it was for Skyward Sword, wasn't it?

Honestly, it was the first and almost only time I saw Nintendo market an anniversary so heavily, and deep down I always thought it was because they didn't have confidence in Skyward Sword, so they came up with this ploy to attract the general public (Wii Sports audience) and hardcore fans.

It was a bit like they were trying to make amends to fans in advance for Skyward Sword being a Zelda game with skin and bones, so that the Wii Sports audience wouldn't get lost playing it.

Yes, I know that since the Switch, Nintendo likes to announce their games very close to release (with rare exceptions such as TotK) and that they want to avoid the MP4 circus.

But we're talking about Mario here, their biggest internal licence, and if they want to show it next June, I think you can make a small exception and show it live specifically for the anniversary.

I don't think showing images of the game without giving a title would have overshadowed the movie announcement.

according to leaks before the mario pack we got, we are supposed to be getting ocarina of time, twilight princess, majora's mask, and wind waker in the anniversary pack

Now that one is actually very funny :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
I must say, if they were to make a bundle with all four of them, with HD (or UHD) textures, for a very reasonnable price, I feel like this could give a big boost to the Switch 2 sales.

Would be nice, But just don't see that happening.
However TP 4K remaster? I'd be all in on that.

Maybe a new game and a remake? Nintendo doesn't really do much for celebrations apart from for Mario so yeah we will see. Maybe we get a Zelda themed Switch 2?
