Wanting to convert region of Wii save file

So, I have a US save of Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii, and want to convert it to PAL. If I wanted to change the region of said save, A: Would I need to grab both the US save and a new PAL save from SaveGame Manager GX, and B: What exactly would I need to change about the saves in the hex editor to successfully convert the region/s of one/both save file/s? I am aware there is a really popular guide for this, but it's super outdated

Generally speaking, you can open the .bin file you get after extracting the save and change the region code with a hex editor. I’m sure there are games out there that won’t work with this, but most Wii games aren’t super different across regions.

I do have a hex editor, and I know I need to do the thing with the...00045 and ...00050 stuff, I just dunno what to do past that

I have no idea what I need to alter in the hex editor or how to do it (I have done some stuff though, like backing up my save and extracting it to the SD card)

I believe you should see the game ID at the start of the save file. Do you see that in your hex editor?
