  • Friendly reminder: The politics section is a place where a lot of differing opinions are raised. You may not like what you read here but it is someone's opinion. As long as the debate is respectful you are free to debate freely. Also, the views and opinions expressed by forum members may not necessarily reflect those of GBAtemp. Messages that the staff consider offensive or inflammatory may be removed in line with existing forum terms and conditions. Saying NO to fascists/nazis - if you are one of those, you are not welcome here
It is an argument. People argue it often.

Anyway, what does this have to do with leaked racist texts?
I originally said that that shitposting doesn't compare to shooting your political opponents, which is what the democrats seem to be engaged in lately.

Well, if you have a source for that, why don't you start a thread about it so we can all be informed and discuss it?

Sure, let's talk about them, what would you like to tell me about school shootings?
You obviously aren't interested since your focus on shootings is with regard to democrats doing it. Not the attempts on Trump's life by Republicans, nor the fatal killing of Democrat lawmakers, or even how some MAGA came to the No Kings protests brandishing guns.

If anything, it's the Republicans with guns trying to use them, and demonstrating their love for fascism.

Charlie Kirk talks like a fool
Charlie Kirk was shot at a school
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Censored everybody calling out Kirk

My focus on shootings is with democrats constantly calling for violence and using inflammatory labels like "white supremacists", "fascists", "nazis", etc. on people who have nothing to do with those ideologies whatsoever. I do not care about the exact particularities of the shooters themselves. You were asking for it to be done, you celebrated successes, you lamented failures.
I do not care about the no kings protest. I also don't want anyone there getting shot. If someone with a maga hat told me to go there and bring guns, I would call them a fed. Can you point to any right-wing pundit or someone influential, who told people to go to the no kings protest and bring guns there?

I can tell you who told people to march to the capital on Jan 6th, calling for violence, which did lead to some deaths.

Who? Trump? Because his exact words were:
"I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order - respect the Law and out great men and women in Blue. Thank you!"

"if you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore". -Trump

Fact is, he could have told them to stop the moment they began their mob action, but he didn't. He let it happen for hours while safe and secure away from it before doing anything.

"Fight" doesn't mean physical violence. Especially in this context. Anyone reading it that way is a moron.
So, the entire mob of Trump followers just so happened to interpret it the wrong way. His crowd. Seems moronic to think Trump had nothing to do with it. Hell, he even recently tried to cclaim that Biden sent his FBI agents into the crowd to cause the violence. He's a moron full of hate and entitlement, and shame on you for thinking he's not.

But this is all off-topic in a thread about 20-30 year olds posting texts about what they truly feel.

Some were angry, some were FBI agents and Trump himself wasn't actually there to control them. But that's beside the point. I personally never heard or read anything that Trump instigated violence or approved of it afterwards.

So, do you believe those FBI agents supposedly in the crowd were sent by Biden?

It's deflection. I mean, if they wanted to talk about shootings, why not talk about the ones happening at schools?
1019 children died in traffic accidents in 2023 in the U.S., 3 per day on average. 442 a day are injured. We could lower this number by outlawing private motor vehicle ownership and switching entirely to well-regulated public transport - confiscate the cars, replace them with buses and trains. We don’t do that because travelling freely trumps the risk of road fatalities, and that’s not even an enumerated right - there are no cars mentioned in the Constitution. A potentially beneficial outcome is not necessarily palatabe when the cost is freedom. This is not an indication that we “don’t care about the children”, or the 40,901 fatalities in 2023 in general, we just accept that road fatalities are an unavoidable consequence which we can only partially mitigate with increased safety standards. There’s a lot of things we could stop doing which would result in more safety, but we refrain from extreme measures because liberty is more important than safety.
