Is Silent Hill 2 worth $200?

No, you should mod your PS2 to play backups from a harddrive (SSD preferred).

Either mod you PS2 to play backups, play the modded PC version or emulate the PS2 version on PC. Also, I don't agree that the remake is bad.

The remake is great. So is the original. Do not waste 200 dollars on though, buy food or a present for a loved one instead and download the iso for free and have fun with pcsx2 on your computer.

I don't want to use an emulator as my computer can't output 240p or 480i for my TV and I can't afford a CRT monitor [people here want $500 for them].

Also, I don't find playing digital games fun, even if it is free.

I think I will just get the PS5 version and then get the PS2 as a treat if I love the game.

No game is worth $200.. well there are collectors out there willing to pay a million dollars or up one example would be the original super mario bros on the NES completely sealed and in great condition.

Jesus i didnt know my copy of SH2 (European version) was worth that much. How much is the Limited Edition one with the cardboard sleeve and the making of cd in it worth since thats the one i have. Still in 8.5/10 condition also really.

Some are, but the ones who pay crazy money for games just because they are graded or a misprint and farkin morons. Stuff like Panzer Dragoon Saga, Lunar 1 and 2 Complete in box on ps1, Castlevania complete w/soundtrack on psone, Skies of Arcadia Legends. Yeah stuff like that IS worth $200. Nothing anyone says to me will convince me otherwise. But like i said you have a point, if you are referring to crap like paying that for a near new copy of NES Super Mario Bros or whatever.

Yeah even if I were rich I would never buy super mario bros for the nes for a million or more. There are few around in existance I think its tough to document stuff like that there are probably people out there that that aren't even aware that they are sitting on a fortune. I can't imagine how much completely sealed and perfect copies of super mario bros nes go for at auction houses.

I agree with the general idea that no game is worth $200.

The problem is that, while I hold Silent Hill 2 in high regard, I acknowledge that it's a 6 hour game (first playthrough). It retailed for $49.99 USD at launch back in 2002. Realistically, games (generally) depreciate in value. The game's value on the collector's market has overvalued the disc. I'm not sure what people say about gamedata value vs. disc value, but rarity and popularity at least boost the value of the physical media that contains the game. It leads to moral/legal dilemmas, with the absolute safest option being to avoid piracy.

TL;DR: Miyamoto's coming to break down your door.

Is it a Nintendo-made game? Yes: worth any amount of money. No: not even worth playing for free.

Only exception to this rule is Bubsy but you're not ready for that.

I can imagine how groundbreaking the original was for its time but all the good stuff is carried over in the remake.

I guess he means he'd have to buy a PS2, and they must be really expensive in his country. Only thing I can think of. In U.S. you could probably get a PS2/Silent Hill 2 for $60-$80 total.

OP said he doesn't like to play digital games, so he obviously is not a PC gamer. My cousin is the exact same way only plays physical/original and only plays on consoles.
