[...] Hopefully the ticking time bombs can be removed (if there even is any). [...]
This small part of all the nonsense you've said gets all your very limited pseudo-arguments into the toilet.

Simple because you can't prove anything you've said about DBI having any type of malware. Period.

You're acting behind your ignorance, which in turn is more dangerous than someone saying they will brick Switch console's.

Duckbill just proved a point here, without even trying.

it's pretty funny, no matter how much the author directly tells you about malware people just defend it and suddenly you need to have concrete proof of "any type of malware" before you're allowed to believe the author's word

I mean you do you, keep using it, if you think duckbill is just trolling or only trying to scare users, but don't complain if it ends up being true and you end up affected

when people tell you who they are believe them the first time

Well no one is saying that having translated version is not a good thing. That's kind of the reason I published it, knowing very well he would prevent this method from working in future builds.

All I am saying is those threats being consequence of untreated mental issues and not duckbill being dick per se.

Also, we are not talking him threatening national security, but at worst god damned switch 1, probably on emunand, with modchip and backups. That thing is nearly unbrickable. 🤷
We are talking about a potential system nand. We are talking about a homebrew app that has permissions that could very well damage things if it really wanted to. Mental illness is not an excuse for shitty behavior. PERIOD. I don't care what it is.

And now I understand why that stupid US president isn't a developer all together.

Everytime he opens his mouth is to say complete non sense.

I can see most people doing this kind of comments completely ignore the background of non quoted words from DBI's dev, and prefer to propagate something someone said somewhere, instead of providing good sources.

And no, I'm not talking about the dev's "threats to Switch console owners", but about their background, and most importantly, the real context.

We should always have criticism I agree, but that should always come with lots of common sense.

In the end, no one force us to use DBI. There a other less prolific apps out there that people can use, most of them developed by complete strangers. And no, I'm not stating that they shouldn't be trusted, that's completely on each one of us, to do it or not.
I don't use DBI. I haven't since he went crazy on here. I feel that even if he bricked peoples consoles, the homebrew app would still be allowed on here atp. Its completely ridiculous. His comments are all over gbatemp but if you want proof I still have screenshots somewhere of his crazy lunatic behavior on here.

This reads like a sitcom episode. We keep eating a coworker's cake off the company fridge, despite being told not to. Instead, we repeatedly complain to him about the taste, someone even adds sugar. One day, he finally snaps and laces it with a sugar-activated laxative. Or maybe that doesn't exist, and he says that just to mess with us. Who knows?

Yes, this is childish, and everyone involved can hate all they want. But I don't see how the coworker is the asshole here.

And then saying "but he put it in the fridge, where it's publicly available"? I don't exactly see that as an excuse to blame him, either.
See, setting a trap with intent to harm in that scenario is illegal lmao He would be arrested and sued so fast for that scenario. That's not even close to what is happening here.

This again goes back to the scenario of him making this app, and uploading it for others to use.... He posts updates even, but tells people to not use it? That's like someone hosting a website publicly that has a very good use, advertising it, and then complaining when people find it and use it...? Just to go and say "if you use my website, I will harm your PC! That's not exactly smart at all here. Why would someone do that if they don't want others to use it? I honestly see that as an excuse 100% and he is stating that he is intentionally wanting to cause harm to others consoles. Either with the threats of bricking consoles, or making the app work worse and do less of what its told over time (which can in fact cause harm if its doing shit wrong on purpose)

Like seriously. No one is threatening to brick any consoles. Things were said in the past, which are now repeated pretty much out of context. Some were lost in translation. Whatever.

I have yet to see any instance of misbehaving dbi. And I personally don't really care.

If your switch is that precious to you (or you are afraid of KGB or whatever), simply don't use the translated version. Disclaimers were made and most of you are probably old enough to vote or order a drink, so you should be more than capable of making your own decisions.

If, and I repeat if, there proves to be anything remotely resembling malware, I will gladly apologize and send you signed postcards stating you were right.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't version 658 which was the last official English version still work just fine? Been sticking to that and I've found no issues with it whatsoever

It's usually best to look at the change log between software releases to see if it's worth upgrading (doesn't apply to Nintendo with their stability bs).

The changelog would be completely lost on me to be quite honest, at least for DBI. All I know is that V 658 still works even to this day despite how old it istIn The v810 the USB 3.0 runs ok. I don’t know if thi runs in v658, for exemple.

USB 3.0 working fine on 18.1 with v658. I tested on 2 NSW. I don't see a reason to shift v810 for now, maybe later.

From what I heard, it is struggling with 20.x firmwares. As I was updating to 20, it seemed like a good time to update dbi as well.

I'm actually surpised that this exsits!

Though, i'm worried something may likely happen whilst i use it and put my console at potential risk?

Just to note, I haven't updated my firmware past v20 and have literally everything else updated (as of this post).

so ive never updated my sw1 in forever (be it homebrew or system updates).
i'm not really caught up on all of this. is it version 486 and above that has the supposed brick code/hidden tag for non russian language?
i have backups but i even worry if those backups are not old enough to be before that.
i didnt really use it for installing but i really liked the mtp -> dump nsp thing to your computer and also quickly modifying save files through mtp.
