Nintendo has released another Fire Emblem mobile game

There's a new Fire Emblem game--and it's not the one that just got announced in the last Nintendo Direct. Announced at Tokyo Games Show 2025 was Fire Emblem Shadows, a new spinoff entry into the series, releasing today for mobile platforms. Shadows is described as a "role-playing social deduction" game where three players will go into battle, having to determine which one of them is betraying the group.

After the initial battle, players vote to determine who they believe is the treacherous disciple of shadow. The outcome of the vote affects whether the next battle is more favorable or more challenging. Whether the disciples of light can correctly discover the traitor—or the disciple of shadow can successfully deceive the others—holds the key to how the next battle unfolds.

Played the last hour and holy smokes is it easy to cheese. Damage yourself, damage another guy, heal the same guy, boom mind games. That being said, I have had a lot of fun with it. I love mindless fire emblem.

I HOPE I DOESNT NEED internet
> a "role-playing social deduction" game where three players will go into battle
"social deduction" is pretty much already a hint that this is multiplayer only. The sentence then continues with "three players will go into battle", which further signals that this is very likely to be multiplayer only.
And sadly, not many multiplayer mobile games have local multiplayer. The only one I can think of is "DUAL!". So I'd say, unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that this game won't require an Internet connection.

Why does this franchise get as much attention as Mario?
It must pay the bills. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance on the GameCube must have been expensive to translate and localize into English, but Nintendo did it. I think FE has always made money, though SRPG's aren't for everybody.

I don't think Nintendo would give the series this much attention, if it weren't popular somewhere. Otherwise, it'd go the way of Star Fox and F-Zero.

It may be easy to scoff at every mobile adaptation that comes around, but if fans are happy and having fun, why complain?

If it makes you happyyyyyyyyy;
It can't be that baaaaa'aaaaa'a'a'a'aad

Because it has become one of the most profitable franchises of Nintendo.
I'm surprised there's a huge fandom because I don't usually run into vocal Fire Emblem fans. I suppose the same is true of Persona fans: They're out there, but they're quiet outside their fandoms. People like their SRPG's and JRPG's.

It's interesting because Fire Emblem started on the Famicom, but it didn't reach the US until the GBA. Despite that, the worldwide fanbase is huge.

You probably don't know this but the last mobile fire emblem game literally took home $1.3bn in revenue in the span of 8 years.
