Okay, so I've been having an issue. I upgraded my CFW to the latest 1.9.4 atmosphere but now I can't install any XCI or NSP. Can this be fixed if I go back to an older cfw? I can install via Tinfoil or DBI Installer but once it's done, the game icon on the Switch's home menu will just be a forever loading icon and it will never load the game icon itself. My official firmware is 20.1.1
Download this and put unzipped files on your SD card, then reboot Switch.

Did all the steps froma video called " " Nintendo Switch! (FIRMWARE 19.0) from teedle and did all the aprtitions and everything as he mentioned

i read in some replys that people use tin foil and DBI for finally using the roms and games, thats where i am right know and i would like to know if there is a guide for what i need to do know for finding roms, what kind of .nsp or to actually understand what i should be looking for at this point

It's recommended that you check the written guides instead of video tutorials which get outdated pretty fast. NH Switch Guide is pretty decent.

I personally use DBI exclusively for installing games, I've never used Tinfoil on any of my hacked Switches. As per forum rules about copyrighted material, I'm not allowed to link to the websites that host those game install files. As for the file types themselves, games come in variety of formats, mainly in NSP and XCI format. You can use NxFileViewer to verify if they were tampered with before you install them with DBI. For playing such games, you'll need sys-patch as well. Additionally, some games like Nintendo Switch Online emulators, will require you to have a NNID linked to the profile you'd like to play the game with. If you don't have a NNID linked to either one of your profiles, you can use linkalho to create a fake one.

can someone please tell me how it is that i have not turned my switch on since 18.0 and it won't let me play Mario Kart 8 without updating? so you constantly have to be updating in order to be able to play games?

HI All,
I have completely forgotten how to upgrade my switch firmware on my modded picofly mod chip. I am having a little trouble finding the right guide to follow to ensure I upgrade it to the latest stable version. If someone could point out this n00b the best way that would be so awesome.

Update: I think i updated it, however I did notice that my switch would only boot in hikate not into the switch start screen. But I looked at the backup I made before i did the upgrade and under bootloader then hekate_ipl.ini it was completely different to the new ini file so i copied across tot he same location and seems to be working I am not sure I did this right thought.

if someone could be so kind to point out the right guide I should follow oled switch that would be amazing.

Without updating the game, or the firmware? If it's the game, be careful with that, as the latest updates won't let you install CTGP Deluxe. For me, that's a good enough reason not to update.

@impeeza wrote a pretty thorough guide on that topic. Check it!

Hello, jumping back into this after a very long hiatus. My kids are finally grown up enough to play video games, so figured I'd get this going again. I used to have SX OS back in the day, but apparently that isn't supported anymore.

I have an old unpatched switch. I've recently loaded hekate and put atmosphere on there and have created emunand and all that, but I'm at a loss on how to move forward. I've put the xci files on my SD card, but the goldleaf applet that I downloaded doesn't seem to have an install option. I then moved on to trying tinfoil, but it doesn't want to install via the installer for whatever reason. I don't even need to install, but don't see a way to even just load the xci and play the games.

On top of that, I'm trying to play mario kart from a game card that I own and it's telling me that it requires a patch. But, when I boot back into OFW, no patch is required. Apologies if these are basic questions, but I feel like nothing is working...anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

You would benefit from reading what I posted two posts above yours. I know you're used to SXOS but xci mounting is not an option on Atmosphere. You'll have to install your xci files, the same way you install nsp files. I use DBI for that. Latest version is v810, and there's even an english version unofficially available. I haven't tested it, though. Can't say anything about how other installers work.

Also sphaira Homebrew which is a homebrew menu replacement lets you to install games and lots of functions

Thank you very much. I'll read through it. I did follow another similar guide elsewhere, but it didn't really mention anything past getting atmosphere on the switch. I did install DBI, but the russian thing is throwing me off haha. I was trying to google translate the different options, but it got really annoying.

What happen to Tinfoil & titleDB?
Hasn't been updated for months.
Many projects like NX-Update-Checker rely on it.

Is there any alternative?

I have a switch V1 on OFW 18.1.0 that I would like to softmod.

I have a few questions regarding this:

i. Do I need to upgrade my OFW version before I begin the modding process of installing CFW?
ii. The main/primary reason for softmodding is to play game backups. I do not intend to play any online games from the e-shop nor do I intend to play any games via the cartridge slot.
iii. Is playing games via AMS within the EMUMMC independent of the OFW version in my switch?
iv. Can I leave my OFW as it is and happily go on with the modding process?
v. What version of HATS pack do I choose to place on my MicroSD card? (there is everything from 19.0.1 to the latest HAT pack compatible UP TO 20.4.0)

Any experts that can shed some light on the situation, I would be most grateful!

You dont need to update to the latest firmware before modding its better that you dont because homebrew needs to be updated to the latest firmware because it just came out and emunand is seperate from OFW your games wont show up on OFW but the will only show on emunand dont connect your emunand to wifi or you will get banned nintendo can detect it use OFW for online gaming and you will be safe and you can leave OFW the way it is it is not touched by the modding process.

One of my Switches charges with my MacBook's USB-C cable but not the official Nintendo USB-C cable or power brick.

Is this a hardware issue and can I fix it without replacing the port? Cleaning with IPA didn't help.
