Atari and Fabraz have announced Bubsy 4D.

Currently, the game is set to release on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, PS5, and PC (Steam, GOG, and EGS), but no release date was announced.

Rob Paulsen will not return as the voice of Bubsy.

Join Bubsy on a new, intergalactic, platforming adventure! Yeah, we couldn’t believe it either. The world’s most infamous, wise-cracking bobcat has returned to 3D with new challenges, new moves, and even more purrsonality—in space! Run, jump, glide, and roll across alien planets, battle robotic sheep, and collect tons and tons of yarn. What could possibly go wrong?

Bubsy’s longstanding enemies, the fleece-obsessed Woolies, have stolen all of the Earth’s sheep. Oh well, that ain’t Bubsy’s problem. Until the sheep overthrow their captors and return as deadly BaaBots, empowered by Woolie technology, determined to steal Bubsy’s most prized possession, The Golden Fleece.

With the help of his motley crew of acquaintances, Bubsy must journey through space to defeat the BaaBots and take back the Golden Fleece. Luckily, he’s acquired some new skills to navigate the expansive, craft-themed levels. Bubsy can leap, glide, claw his way up walls, and pounce off enemies. He can also puff up into a new hairball form to roll at blistering speeds.

The team at Fabraz crafted this expressive new moveset to cater to beginners and speedrun enthusiasts alike. Once you’ve mastered Bubsy’s clawsome new moves, show off your skills by uploading your best level times to the online leaderboards for other players to race against!

Key Features

  • Explore intergalactic, craft-themed worlds, each ending in a BaaBot boss battle.
  • New hairball form allows you to roll, bounce, and launch your way around.
  • An expressive platforming moveset supports both beginner and advanced levels of play.
  • Spend yarn to purrchase stylish new outfits, or collect a hidden blueprint in each level to unlock new moves and upgrades.
  • Tackle each level’s time trial, upload your best run, and race against other players’ ghost data.
  • Chat with a cast of furmiliar friends including Terri, Terry, Virgil, and Oblivia.
  • Pawsitively funky soundtrack by Fat Bard, incorporating elements of jazz, big band, electro-swing and more.

Who's ready to kvetch about Bubsy again?

idk how they managed to convince Fabraz to make this

Demon Turf is pretty good and Demon Tides is looking good as well

Bubsy 4D is looking like another Demon Tides so I may unironically have to buy this thing

oh look, that new kirby game looks really fun, oh man sonic and pacman are having a crossover, this is so cool and... wha- what is that... what is that in the corner... right there...? oh, oh no, oh god oh no, OH GOD OH NO, HE FUCKS NOW??

jokes aside, these devs made some actual good 3D platformers but idk what to expect here, i never played bubsy but i love 3D platformers and idk if i should give this one a chance

Bubsy lives on! Blinx 2 when?????
I know I'm being that person, but I would really like to do the joke. If you'll indulge me:

Don't you mean......

Blinx 3?

Looks dreadful. Bubsy works best as a Sonic clone.
In all honesty, some of the moves in the teaser looked like 3D Sonic's homing attack.

this is going to be worse than 3! also why does he have a fucking tie now has he gone corporate?!
Someone commented that reinterpreting Bubsy's exclamation point as a tie is genius, but he does look a bit overdressed.

It reminds me of Bionic Commando (2009): On the one hand, I'm glad the devs didn't feel bound by tradition, which can stifle creativity. On the other hand, something closer to the original would have been nice.

Fool me one, shame on you.
Fool me 3 more times, shame on me...

Not sure if I'll fall for it again, until I see gameplay reviews, and/or it comes to Switch 1, so I can play test it for free before I buy.

Well, the dev team made some good games so this might actually be worth playing, assuming whatever corporate parasite is currently commandeering the corpse of Atari is actually giving them enough creative freedom to make an actually good game.

I had a hunch that Blinx somehow got a sequel that I didn't know about, but I'm genuinely surprised that it actually did! Blinx 3 it is then, could be the next-gen Xbox's killer app :creep:

I find it hilarious how they keep trying to make Bubsy a thing and fail every time, though this one does look better than the previous games so far

To think, Microsoft wanted Blinx to be the mascot, but at the time, Master Chief made intuitive sense. It's strange to have a console with only an honorary mascot, like Crash, especially when they go multiplatform.

I remember playing the first few moments of the original Blinx, but I didn't stick with it. It was during the time when games were more job than hobby. Now that I've gone back to basics, I want to give the game an honest try.

TL;DR: Blinx: The Time Sweeper has been added to your playlist.
