Nintendo is increasing the price of the Switch and other accessories in the US

swotchprice.png

As a result of "market conditions", Nintendo has decided to increase the price of a number of products. Starting August 3rd, all original Nintendo Switch models (including the OLED and Lite) will see a price hike, in addition to the Alarmo, amiibo, and other Switch and Switch 2 accessories. The Nintendo Switch 2 and its games will not see any price changes, at this time, though Nintendo does state that price adjustments to those items might still happen in the future. Nintendo did not specify what the new prices will be in the United States--at the time of writing, a Switch OLED Edition retails for $349.99, a Lite retails for $199.99, and the original Switch model is priced at $299.99.

[UPDATE] American retailer Target has already changed the prices of the Nintendo Switch units on its website, ahead of the date Nintendo specified. Currently, the original Switch has an MSRP of $339.99, the OLED is $399.99, and the Lite is $229.99.

That makes sense I carnt even sell my Switch Oled for £190 and it’s absolutely in mint condition the dock and handgrip etc.. are all still in its original packaging in the box. Know one wants an Oled anymore when they can buy a brand new released Switch 2 at £429 with Mario Kart World

It's funny that Trump thinks its a good idea to up taxes on everything imported, yet majority of everything manufactured is exported to make it cheaper for them.

I can see the likes of China, Japan etc saying fuck you Trump, you want your American products made here.... then cough up or fuck off.

God could you imagine it, Crapple devices are already retailed far above the production costs, they'd likely slap another £1k to its retail price to keep investors happy.

But this is clearly a move to get users off the SW1 and to tye SW2 before they fully run out of Nvidias old chips.

Yeah, this tactic seems to just be Nintendo gradually phasing out the original Switch - i.e. "why get an OLED Switch when the all-new, improved Switch 2 is just $50 more?"

What is Nintendo even doing with all the money? Better make a 3D Yoshi game and a Mario game better than Odyssey. And Super Mario 3D Maker with N64 levels, Sunshine and Galaxy to choose from. Nintendo, you have the f king money to do so.

If they appear to be worse games, it's over permanently and will tell everyone to not be a part of Switch Online etc.
they just released one of the best games of the year that is also one of the best jump n runs ever

Other than having three games I really wanted releasing within the first year, this orange fog of uncertainty is another big reason why I bought a Switch 2 at launch. The base model will be $500 before too long.

Yeah... "market conditions". It's just sponsoring your government, guys. So in the end you'll benefit from it.
No idea how, but that money goes somewhere, so...
Pays a minuscule fraction of the cost of tax cuts for corporations and billionaires.

At this point, the Switch is gonna be the price of a Switch 2. Why Nintendo? 😭
Nintendo isn't what Nintendo was. Since the death of Satoru Iwata-san, Nintendo lost their mind. What made Nintendo so special was their uniqueness in the way they created their consoles/games. But now? I fell like they lost their charm and only are bootlicking their investors. This is coming from someone who grew up with Nintendo. (the family NES i had as a kid, my first DS lite in 2008, my first Wii in 2010, My first 3DS in 2015, my first Switch in 2018)

I still love to play Mario Kart and i am very good at it. Yet, i play more on my PS5. There are a bunch of games i want to finish before i die in many many many years. That, while still doing my job as a Tram Conductor, giving love and attention to my family, friends & girlfriend/future wife.

As much as I love to rip on Nintendo, we can't put this one on them specifically. All the other console hardware already increased in price, and the prices of everything outside the gaming industry have gone up too. A crash/recession wouldn't harm billionaires at all, so Trump is happy to play reckless games with the economy.

I've seen OLED Switches on Vinted go for as low as £80. Used Switch 1 consoles aren't really that valuable, maybe except Zelda Switch Lite.

This isn't about tariffs at this point. The BOM has decreased drastically over the last 8 years. This is Nintendo squeezing every dollar out of consumers under the excuse of tariffs
i mean it kinda is??? if Microsoft is following suit too, did y'all forget about that?

That's awful news for Nintendo. I'm very glad to abandon support to Nintendo on Wii U, Switch and Switch 2. I only own Nintendo NES to Wii and GameBoy Color to New Nintendo 3DS XL then no more Nintendo for me. Double thumb down 👎👎 to Nintendo.

That's why I always buy gaming computer then buy another gaming computer over again, again. Because of huge PC games library and great emulators to play all of games we love.

Good bye to Nintendo. I love Nintendo to death means Nintendo will going out of business in near future. RIP Nintendo. ⚰️🪦
