Animal Crossing: City Folk Deluxe romhack shows off its changes in new trailer

Animal Crossing fans are getting treated, as not only did a group of fans tweak and improve the 2001 GameCube classic, but now there also exists a project that aims to improve the 2008 Nintendo Wii entry, Animal Crossing: City Folk. Created by Aurum and their team, Animal Crossing: City Folk Deluxe is a romhack that makes massive changes to the original game, such as implementing all 94 DLC items into the base game, adding other regions' holidays, backporting newer villagers into the game, adding quality of life changes, and even restoring online play through Wiimmfi and WiiLink.

You can check the romhack out by going to the source below. It can be emulated, or even played on original hardware. A trailer has been put together to display some of the major changes to the game.

Loving all these Animal Crossing releases lately. And this time it's even NOT locked behind a Discord server, hurray !
I hate that some of those hack discord servers make oyu join to get the romhack or whatever... then they have a rule "You can't leave and come back a ton". Like bruh, you gonna lock your work behind me joinin, why would I stay if I don't want to? Legit, what the heck?
I don't like havin' a ton of discord servers cloggin' my account!

Also wanna say I've played this City Folk romhack with my actual disc and it's pretty good. got me back into City Folk!

Awesome. I've never played Animal Crossing before (other then Pocket Camp) This makes me wanna try it soonish. Animal Crossing is the kind of game for when it's winter or raining outside and with some tea/coffee/hot chocolate with cookies.

Animal crossing is getting too realistic, they've added spam emails to the game

Wait, It’s not made by 1 person?

This is nice, but what I desperately want now is a mod that allows for online multiplayer and town sharing, really on any version of Animal Crossing. Especially now that Animal Crossing for the Gamecube has been decompiled.

Like, more specifically, I'd like to be able to put up a dedicated server and have friends join and leave at will. Similar to what I already have setup for Terraria. I'm hoping we see this some time in the (hopefully near) future. It happened to Super Mario 64 of all games, which originally didn't even have multiplayer, but now we have sm64ex-coop. There's also online multiplayer for Ocarina of Time, using either OotModLoader, or SoH (Ship of Harkinian) Anchor. I know it's a lot of work, that admittedly I don't have the time or skillset for, but surely it must be possible if we can add multiplayer for these other games.

"even restoring online play through Wiimmfi and WiiLink"

seems they did?

Oh, they totally restored multiplayer for what you used to be able to do in City Folk. But that's not really what I'm shooting for. Yes, you can visit each other's towns while you're both online and playing.

What I want to do with Animal Crossing has never been possible with any Animal Crossing title. I want to be able to live in the same town / island as my friends, not just visit each other. I want to be able to play together on said island simultaneously, which New Horizons allows you to do with local play. But I want to be able to do this with my friends online. I want to be able to put up a dedicated server that runs 24/7, that my friends and I can join in and out of at any time.

This is cute and all but unless the whole grass gets ruined if you walk on it mechanic got removed no thanks
