puzzle games don't get enough love! Two absolute gems more people should play:
The Witness - That moment when the puzzles just *click* is pure magic. No tutorials, no bs, just you and your brain.
Baba Is You - This game broke my brain in the best way possible. You literally rewrite the game rules as you play!

Great list! One underrated gem I’d add is Stickman Hook. It looks super simple, but it’s insanely addictive with smooth swing mechanics and surprisingly challenging levels. I keep coming back to it just for that “one more try” feeling. Definitely deserves more love than it gets!

Stellar Blade. Overrated this game, but I found the game content very poor, movement is laggy, attacks are very slow
I was genuinely considering looking into the game because I'm big into Devil May Cry and DMC-alike'. I'm aware of its character design choices, but I was curious about the quality of the gameplay and level design.

Compared to the first DMC, how does it play?

Like father and son. If you are used to DMC's speed and combo play, SB is really bad.

I kept hearing about how quickly it sold on Steam, but doing the research, Devil May Cry 5 shipped ~10m units and Stellar Blade shipped ~3m units. Of course, DMC5 has been available since 2019, so this research doesn't help me much.

TL;DR: I should probably try the demo first.

Yes, you can absolutely download the demo first and then decide whether to pay or not. The reason I play this game is mainly because of its mods.

Binary Domain (X360/PS3/PC)
Shadow Hearts Trilogy (PS2)
Parasite Eve (PSone)
LA Noire (PC/X360/Switch/PS3/PS4)
Spec Ops: The LIne (PC/X360)
Valkyria Chronicles (PC/PS3)
Shadow Of Memories (PC/PS2)
SSX (2012) (PS3/X360)
Project Gotham Racing Series (xbox/360)

Man, that's a list.

Vanquish may be one of the more video game-y games to come out in the seventh gen. I never completed it, but I enjoyed the pace of the first hour or so.

I want to get into the Shadow Hearts games, but each entry is about $100 USD.

I thought Parasite Eve was a classic. Anything Squaresoft made was considered gold, during the SNES and PSOne days.

I've never completed Shadow of Memories, but I really like the design concept of repeating sequences while using trial and error to find the best outcome.

Several tempers have recommended the final SSX game. I had had my fill during the sixth gen playing through the original, Tricky, and 3, but I may have to give this one a try.

Forgot a couple from before, one of them in particular i really wish they would at least port to modern systems.

Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 (PS2/GC) - One of the greatest capcom games ever yet noone ever talks about it anymore. No idea why, game was brilliant then, brilliant now, and did a spin on the side scrolling beat up genre that hasnt been done again since.

The Getaway (PS2) - This one is flawed i admit. But a lot of its flaws were due to the console it was made on, not because it was a 'bad' game. A game ahead of its time, attention to detail was insane. All they needed was a more traditional health system and an actual map so people could tell where they were driving to in between shooting sections. Great story, good voice acting just made on a system that could barely handle it. Plays much better on emulation via pcsx2 now than it ever did natively ironically enough.

Maximo - Ghosts To Glory (PS2) - Hard as fark 3d platformer that was a hell of a lot of fun to play. Not that much else to mention.

Skies of Arcadia and Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC/DC) - Another RPG locked off modern consoles that at the very least deserves a port. Brilliant rpg, and well worth checking out through dolphin.

Legacy Of Kain Defiance (PS2/XBOX/PC) - I mean you could have Soul Reaver 1/2 or the OG Blood Omen here but i feel this game was the best in the series yet gets mentioned even less than those three. Brilliant Game, only think that kept it from being a masterpiece was its somewhat iffy camera that would obscure you when you were fighting at times. Otherwise, great graphics for the time, great story, incredible voice acting, level design and a great feeling of progression where you feel like you got gradually stronger as the game went through.

Final Fantasy VIII (PC/PSX/Switch/PS4) - Some people are going to laugh at this inclusion. It's a final fantasy game, how the hell is it underrated? Thing is, whenever people talk about brilliant 6/7th gen FF games everyone goes to FFVII/IX/VI/X. Noone seems to ever mention 8. Was the junction system hard to get used to at first? Sure. But it also had by far the best mini game in the entire series (triple triad), good characters, amazing graphics for its time and for at least the first half and end of the game, a great story.

Resident Evil Code Veronica/ CVX (DC/PS2/NGC/PS3/X360) - Seems to be trendy to shit on this game in recent time. Mostly because of its difficulty, the tank controls (which noone has a problem with when they replay REmake or OG RE2/RE3) or because Steve had a whiny voice. Truth is, gameplay was awesome, had the most OP knife in the series, one of the best soundtracks in it and it lasts longer than a couple of hours unlike the other old OG games. Good variety of weapons, actually FEELS like a RE game unlike everything made since RE4 and the Wesker cutscenes are the best in the series. Canon to the series, crucial to the following games storyline wise and most deserving of a remake out of all the ones left that havent gotten one.

Skies Of Arcadia (Dreamcast) got a import version back in the day.
There is a GameCube version, but the music quality is poor. Because the DC version uses two (1.2GB) discs and the GC uses only one (1.5GB) disc....
