Nintendo Switch firmware 20.2.0 released

1752542221250.png

A new Nintendo Switch firmware is available. So far seems no new keys are generated, and FW 20.0.0 Keys decompress the 20.2.0 firmware; sigpatches will need an update, SYS-Patch should work fine. So far the only app affected is NXThemeInstaller which needs new patches. Bootlogos nor PNGShot are affected.

Ver. 20.2.0 (Released July 14, 2025)

  • Fixed an issue where Parental Control settings were not transferred from Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2 in certain circumstances during a system transfer.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.

Those patches are only really meant to make better use of Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, if you are playing on the original Nintendo Switch they are pretty much useless, just stay on the second last patch.

Theoretically the only exceptions would BOTW and TOTK, as they add new localization (if you speak pt-BR), but even those have already been backported to their previous versions to make them compatible with 19.0.1.
Just me or is it strange SciresM hasn’t posted publicly since May? He normally tweets when these updates come out to say he’s working on it.

I know, but the thing is that I don't want to manually manage some updates just for avoiding make the big update of the FW.

And I hope that, eventually, SciresM will update Atmosphere to make everything work as it should.

Best regards

I've been using emuMMC basically forever. That's the only part that gets updated regularly. Even then, losing the yo ho ho sites that keep it possible to download direct is going to hamper things.

Unfortunately my ISP hellscape means that I get a copyright whine every time I use a torrent. They haven't done more than that yet; but it's a hassle I would rather not keep dealing with.
ever thought of mullvad probably the safest vpn out there i trust them (I rather share my cc with them rather than my ID with some 3rd party ID checker for porn (yeah i live in one of those states)

I've never heard of that before. But I also have a negative association with vpn's because all they seem to do nowadays is simulate a 56k dial up experience I hoped was dead and gone.

Atmosphère 1.9.2 with support for FW 20.2.0 has been just released:

https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/releases

Atmosphère 1.9.2 Latest

1.9.2 is Atmosphère's eighty-third official release.

Please be sure to update fusee when upgrading to 1.9.2. fusee-primary no longer exists, and will not work any more.

With thanks to the @switchbrew team, Atmosphère 1.9.2 is bundled with hbl 2.4.4, and hbmenu 3.6.0.

The following was changed since the last release:

  • Basic support was added for 20.2.0.
  • USB 3.0 support force-enable was fixed for 20.1.0+.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.
And the following was changed in 1.9.0:

  • Basic support was added for 20.0.0.
    • The console should boot and atmosphère should be fully functional. However, not all modules have been fully updated to reflect the latest changes.
      • There shouldn't be anything user visible resulting from this, but it will be addressed in a future atmosphère update.
      • The same action item from 18.0.0 remains, and I believe in my heart of hearts that it will be addressed eventually. Someone has told me they're working on it.
      • There aren't (to my knowledge) outstanding 19.0.0 items any more.
    • Please note: As a result of changes made to nintendo's software in 20.0.0, there is roughly 10MB less memory available for custom system modules.
      • We can only steal a maximum of 14MB from the applet pool, down from 40MB.
      • To compensate for this, ams.mitm's heap usage has been reduced by 20MB.
        • To facilitate this, a new helper module (memlet) was added, so that memory may be temporarily stolen during the romfs building process.
        • Hopefully, this results in relatively little breakage, however it is possible that user mods which replace extremely large numbers of files in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may no longer function.
          • If you are affected by this, you will see "Data abort (0x101)" when trying to launch the game with mods.
          • Please reach out to sciresm on discord if this occurs to share your error report binary. However, some issues may be impossible to fix.
          • I apologize sincerely if the issue is impossible to resolve, but I have been forced unavoidably to make compromises here, and I think this is the best balance to be struck.
    • exosphère was updated to reflect the latest official secure monitor behavior.
    • mesosphère was updated to reflect the latest official kernel behavior.
    • loader was updated to reflect the latest official behavior.
    • pm was updated to reflect the latest official behavior.
    • ncm was partially updated to reflect the latest official behavior.
    • erpt was updated to reflect the latest official behavior.
  • Atmosphère was updated to use GCC 15/newlib (latest devkitA64/devkitARM releases).
  • A number of improvements were made to the dmnt cheat engine.
    • New instructions were added, and instructions were updated for improved/new functionality.
    • Please see the documents for details -- thanks @tomvita!
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.
For information on the featureset supported by 1.9, please see the official release notes.

Just to add to that - Mullvad and IVPN, nothing else. With IVPN you won't get 56k, I don't know about Mullvad tho (and use Wireguard, not OpenVPN).

Patch Loader AMS 1.9.2
INI:
[Loader:1AECE790BE17AC82]
.nosigchk=0:0x5F8E:0x1:01,00
For those still using fss0/pkg3 or who do not use sys-patch
If you want to use it on fusée, you will need to build a version of the fusée payload that accepts the old patches.

Switch v1: FW 20.2.0 + Atmosphere 1.9.2 working like a charm!

Just only 2 things:
1.DBI - Clean Orphaned Files do not work anymore; it stays in Cleaning obosolete files and never ends.
2.\atmosphere\erpt_reports gets full of files after openning and closing any games.

Please report the second point on the Atmosphère github.

Which DBI version? It's working on both 715-ptbr and 796-ru here.
It might also be related to the erpt_reports folder getting full.
I tested and both gave me the same wrong result (Clean Orphaned Files do not work anymore): the latest one DBI 796 - Russian version only and the latest one in english which I believe it is the 658 one.

I imagine that is about the newest FW, the 20.2.0, which probably has changed something releated to the paths where DBI does the first reads...

You say it works in your case with a Switch v1: FW 20.2.0 + Atmosphere 1.9.2?

Yes. It takes a few moments at the beginning, but eventually completes.
