Animal Crossing for the GameCube has been decompiled

acgc.png

Another monumental fan effort has been achieved. The team behind the Animal Crossing decompilation have reached 100% progress on recreating the game's code. This isn't a full 100%, as noted by project creator Cuyler, who states that there's still work left to do, but it means Animal Crossing for the GameCube can be modded fully, and soon ported to other platforms, once released. Additionally, the same team has been working on backporting and translating content from the Japanese-exclusive Dobutsu no Mori e+ into a project called Animal Crossing Deluxe.

It's my pleasure to announce that as of <t:1750082820:R>, Animal Crossing's [decompilation](https://github.com/ACreTeam/ac-decomp) hit 100% matching and linked game code. While not fully 100%, the way the game is set up means that we can fully mod the game. There's still some work to do on supporting libraries like the GameCube SDK, among others. However, this does not impact modding. **HUGE** shoutout to everyone who contributed and supported the project along the way! This has been 2.5 years in the making! I'll have a more fitting announcement when we hit complete 100% in the future!

Theoretically, yes.

But not many of the decompilations we've had have led to pc ports.
For example the pokemon gb / gba games - pretty sure there's no (public) pc port.
Mario 64 and Zelda 64 we do have them.
Cuyler has stated he will likely work on a PC port after the project is 100% complete:

PC port when??

We're working on getting to full 100%. I will likely work on a PC port once we've hit that goal. So no PC port yet.

I'm a bit confused here.

Is the decompilation really 100% done, or is it still unfinished?

I say this because if y'all go to decomp.dev, you'll see that it's still at 96.36% (with matching being at 95.36%), as of time of writing.

If anything, Pikmin is close to being finished.

Unless we're talking about matching code completion, rather than main code completion.

We can decompile GameCube games now? Is someone porting Smash Bros. Melee to everything and adding Isaac?
Melee is in the process of being decompiled and the effort is currently active. It is at 31% decompilation, all things considered. Code decompilation is at 26%.

I'm fairly certain that every game, upon reaching 100% code decompilation, is touted as being 100% decompiled even if that's not technically true. It's not that everything needed to run the game has been decompiled, but the game itself has been decompiled, so if you have another way of interpreting all of the code with an independent libraries you could port it to whatever.

The main point of having all of the code decompiled is that mods can be made extremely easily for this now, with the apparent goal being to backport a lot of the Japanese e+ release's content/features. I know Cuyler was working on an English translation of that game as well and has been for a long time, so something like this will make all of this much easier.

no need it makes up with everything else

Yeah it has a lot more content that the N64 and DS games. Grass does not die if you walk over it, so many holidays and fun events and cannot forget the Nes games.

Also everything is in the same town, no need to visit the city or some shit, you can visit other towns in other save cards if you want to and there is the GBA deal most people do not use due to how hard is to get the GBA to Gamecube cable but us fun if you actually got the darn cable.

I played the DS game a lot more cause it came with my phat DS and I didn't have that mant DS games early on plus being portable made it easy to play a few hours each day.

Next thing I knew I had played the DS game for over a year but then I played the Gamecube game and I was like, "Look I understand why you removed the Nes games but why the hell does the Gamecube game got so many holidays and events the DS game doesn't?"

'Global appeal' and 'region-specific events' ...I swear. Some of these excuses, whether it's from Nintendo America or Nintendo Japan, need to stop. !!!
We literally import games from Japan to experience those cultural differences in content.
(And I don't think it's DS cartridge space/storage either)

Even the renaming titles for "Western" eyes p!sses me off.
The last peeve I cared about was 'Monster Hunter XX' (Japan - 20 year anniversary) ...it gets published outside of JPN as 'Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate' ...visual marketing wise, I prefer seeing the Roman 'XX' to represent 20 years. It just looks cooler, but for whatever reason, some chump gets the vote to re-title using the lamest sh!t

It's a shame there's no tool or anything to romhack Wild World easily.
It is one of the AC games where the characters have alot more personality and cool interactions.

If only there was a way to romhack the regular holidays back into the game...

Tempting to get GB Wild World now. I have the DS version, but I probably should put the hours into the GB version when I find one cheap.

(Wild World with New Horizon engine, keeping all the same writing and personalities of the characters would be nice to experience.)
I will for sure put hours into Wild World considering fan sites always site it as more personable than other AC titles.

There is a translation project for the updated re-release of the Japanese version of the Gamecube game but is not 100% complete yet.

Just im trying to discover how i can use Advance Play with external NES ROMS loaded from the memory card to play it in a GBA.
Maybe this can help me!
