I'm thinking of buying Cyberpunk 2077 for my Switch 2, but I’d like to hear the opinion of someone who has played the PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X versions.
Also, should I get it digitally or as a physical cartridge?
Thanks!

I have Switch 2 version of game and played it, so can share my experience.

It looks great on Switch 2 but it is definitely not PC/PS5 graphic, so it is more like run on PS4 Pro with all bugs and performance issues ironed out, so basically stable, final game. Streets are just very living and busy and there is no empty street as you saw on PS4.

The DLSS enabled this game to run smoothly with one generation old.

It is great for portable and if you seriously care about graphic, I would recommend PC or PS5.

I haven't played it myself but get the impression that while an impressive port you will get a better experience on more powerful hardware. It's really up to you whether portability is worth the loss of immersion and whether you play it now or wait a few years for the Steam Deck 2.

I have it on PC, on my Steam Deck, and on my Switch 2. It plays just fine; it runs (and looks) a fair bit better than on my Steam Deck. It's not 120 FPS (If I recall it's either 30 or 40, depending on the mode set), or RTX 4070Ti Super levels of quality, but it's more than playable, and looks quite nice. I bought it physically, but that's a personal choice! I'm quite enjoying it. If you have no other way to play it, or want it on a portable, go for it!

IGN and Digital Foundry both did a deep dive into the visuals and performance, if you're interested. No idea what Kupie's talking about, though; it definitely runs better than the Xbox S/PS4/Steam Deck Preset versions, as you can see below.

For me, it doesn't worth that price. Maybe at €30/$, but not at €70/$. I will wait for the dump, or a high price cut.

Thanks! I’ll take a look, I do not care about graphics just want to experience the game.
If I am not wrong the cartridge of Cyberpunk 2077 has the complete game inside it right?

Yup, full game on the card. FYI, it runs at 40 fps max. If you've never played any other version, you won't notice it.

They really optimized the hell out of Cyberpunk after launch ... That the switch 2 has middling performance despite this is disappointing. This game is half a decade old. The Switch 2 is roughly the equivalent to the steam deck released years ago. It doesn't bode well for the switch 2 getting any AAA modern ports going forward. If it's weak now, imagine 5 years down the line. It will only be getting sloppy seconds ports from years ago.

If devs wanted to, they certainly could port whatever they wanted to it, but these days games aren't optimized and no one seems to want to bother with the effort. If the switch 2 were stronger, we could likely get 30fps or whatever of most games coming out, instead of being an island divorced from the rest of gaming.

I really don't think the switch 2 is as future proof as the switch 1 was back in 2017. It's a decent enough upgrade, but it's going to struggle over the next few years.

You're blinded by nostalgia. The original Switch was somewhere in between a PS3 and a PS4 in terms of power, and it was low-end hardware already when it released.

Except it really wasn't. You're confusing newer apis etc. with power. As far as raw power goes, PS3 is actually more powerful than Switch 1.

At the time, it was at least a powerful handheld for the market. The space has been flooded with similar devices now and games are more bloated than ever. It's absurd to be my 3080 has any issue whatsoever running FF7 rebirth for example.

Obviously the switch didn't get most multiplats but we got something like Doom Eternal on switch every once in a while. i think we will see much less of that on switch 2. At best, we will be getting a handful of backports years later.

I do think for the standards of the time the 2017 switch was stronger at launch than the switch 2 in 2025.
