Can you restore a NAND backup from the OG Wii to the vWii?

I cant get the wii system transfer app to work and I want to transfer everything to the vWii, any help? I only moved the Miis, but when I try to copy the saves from sd to vWii NAND it says I need to have a save on the vWii to move the file... please help!

You can transfer saves using Savegame manager GX even if there's no pre-existing save on your vWii.

That's strange, I recently copied a save without having a previous one and it worked, but yeah, I just read that you do need a pre-existing save, so I think in my case the game partially created the save, it just didn't show up on the menu, as it had an english patch and that causes an issue with save file creation for this specific game.

You'll probably need to do as the warning says, just boot the game until it creates a save file and then transfer the save from your Wii, many games create a save file as soon as you reach the main menu, so it shouldn't take too long.

Just use the tool from the Wii Shop Channel, it is still online.
